Well first I want to start by thanking Ashley for making an entry for me!!! Shes so great..lol.
As you guys heard from Ashleys entry, I had a pretty rough week. I decided to write out the whollllllllllee adventure, so beware, this will be a long entry.
It all started on
Sunday. In the morning, we woke up and went to my parents house and met all my sisters there...we planted a bunch of new plants and flowers for my mom in her yard. We even planted 3 trees. We felt very accomplished. lol. I started feeling really tired and dizzy, but we blamed it on the sun, since it was hot and we were outside and all. So we went home, (Jeremy and I) and cleaned the house, got ready, etc. We made lunch, and I just could not keep anything down. And the more I threw up, the more a pain in my right side seemed to throb. I was positive I had the
stomach flu.So I went to bed about 8:30pm, and woke up about 10pm covered in sweat... my fever had reached 103 and I had chills. So Jeremy decided it was time to go to the ER, so we got dressed and left.
OK our town is really small, so there is NEVER a wait in the ER waiting room, there's hardly ever anyone in there. But of course, the one day that I go in puking everywhere, 2 ambulances show up at the same time and I have to wait for an hr. grr... it was horrible, because I couldn't even stop throwing up long enough to give the guy the info of my insurance..it was ridiculous.
So they called us back about midnight, and they immediately put an IV in and give me some
phenerganfor nausea, and after about 2 or 3 doses I FINALLY stopped throwing up. They also gave me some pain medicine for the ache in my side, but it didnt work so eventually they gave me
morphine which worked but had me feeling pretty loopy. They ran some blood tests..and found out that my white blood count was
17.6 The normal is 10. hrs ticked by, finally about 5am they started talking about transferring me to Sierra Vista, because its a much bigger hospital and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me.
They said it would be a couple more hrs before they could get a different dr there, so we decided to wait it out, and Jeremy went home to sleep for a couple hrs.
Around 7:30am, they took me for an ultrasound, to see if maybe I had a cyst on my ovaries or something that was causing the pain. I kinda knew they found something...because the ultrasound tech kept taking pictures of the same thing over and over..but at that point, my fever was back and I had morphine in me so I didn't bother asking, I focused on staying awake.
They took me back to the ER, and my sister
Candy was waiting there for me. She had taken a couple hrs off of work, and came to see what was going on. She stayed with me till about 10:30 or so, mostly keeping me company.
The nurse came in, and quietly started filling out paperwork. We weren't too sure what she was doing, so we didn't pay too much attention. She then put in ANOTHER IV in my other arm, and said it was "just in case" it was needed. she also had me take my hair down, and sign a paper about blood transfusions. My sister was getting annoyed at this point because the nurse wasn't answering any of our questions as to WHY she was doing this stuff, she just kept saying
"the dr will be in soon to talk to you and answer any questions" when the dr came in, he said from the looks of the ultrasound, there was something wrong with my appendix, they just didn't know what because it was very hard to even find it. So they were going to do an
emergency surgery.I was pretty scared. Jeremy showed up just as they were getting me into a gown, and he was pretty confused as well. After all, we were both positive I just had the stomach flu.
My sister called my mom, and she immediately got off of work and came, as well as Candys husband, Jose. They all waved to me as i was wheeled away to surgery... and everything after that is pretty fuzzy.
Next thing I remember, I am in a hospital room, and my stomach hurts like hell. I was REALLY swollen, and I could feel where the cuts where, (one in my belly button, one on my side, and one at the waistband of my panties) The dr came in, and said my appendix was
ready to rupture and they got there just in time. The whole day was pretty fuzzy, I was in and out of sleep. I do remember a lady coming in and giving me a breathing "toy", that I had to do 10 times every hr because I was very high risk for getting
pneumonia. On top of EVERYTHING else Im going through.... pneumonia. can you believe it?
For some reason, (a reason we were never told) I could have anything by mouth until 24hrs after the surgery. Which means no water... so my throat was DRY and cracking and my lips were chapped, it was torture. They eventually brought me a
tiny sponge to wet my mouth with.I kept everyone updated through myspace and twitter from my cellphone..lol. so it helped the time go by quicker. My sissy also took me for walks around the hospital.
Monday night, my sister Roseanne went into labor. It really sucked because she was in a different hospital, so I wasnt able to see her or the baby. But I now have a new niece,
Gabriella Joselyn. [:)]
On Tuesday night, my fever was back to 103 and we weren't sure why, and the nurses weren't really concerned with it, so my mom threatened to transfer to a different hospital if they weren't going to at least TRY to get it under control. They hadn't even given me tylenol to lower it, they just said try to sleep. My oxygen also dropped below 85, (its normally supposed to be in the high 90's or 100)so they put me on oxygen. My mom ended up sitting with me for 3 hrs dabbing a wet washcloth on my forehead. After shift change, I got a new nurse and she was really nice, gave me some tylenol and brought me alot of popsicles to keep me cool. By Wednesday morning my fever was down to 99. I was released, and I went to my moms house for a few days until I was strong enough to walk up the stairs to go to my apartment. Im still having a really hard time breathing, and im really wheezy and coughing alot, so theres a very good chance I already have pneumonia. I have a follow up appt on tuesday, so we will find out for sure.
And that was my long adventure. lol. Sorry if the entry was too long ,I dont expect anyone to read the whole thing. I mostly wrote it so I would have it written down before i forgot. lol.
