It's been a while.....
So...I know it's been a while. I've been super busy at work and I must confess that I haven't played DDR in a long time. I stopped playing because I have to lock the dogs in the bedroom to play and they spend the whole time whining and I just didn't want to play. I have replaced that with a short simple workout routine in the mornings. I'm slowing working the reps up. Originally it was 25 crunches, 25 right side crunches, 25 left side crunches, and 25 bicycle crunches. Now it is 75 crunches, 40 right side crunches, 40 left side crunches, and 40 bicycle crunches. I also try new moves, but so far those are the only ones I have found helpful enough to keep. I still consume less soda, at lunch, but when I get home, it's hard to say no to a much craved glass of Dr. Pepper. I still haven't acquired a love for water, but I don't hate it as much as I used to. I have given up most sweets. I still indulge some, but it's not what it once was. I don't really crave it anymore to tell the truth. I have also given up some of the pasta. We usually eat a pasta side almost every night (either italian pasta salad or shells & cheese). I'm not cutting it all out because I love pasta and I refuse to live a life of denial, but now I eat my own veggie salad every other night instead of the pasta. I mix raw onions, broccoli, cucumbers, and steamed mushrooms with 2 tablespoons of italian dressing. It's really good.
I have new results to share as well. I have officially lost 10 pounds total. I'm down to 155 from 165! I'm a third of the way there. Again, I don't really see much of a difference when I look in the mirror, but I'm still estatic that the scale says I'm 10 pounds lighter. I also looked over the previous entry when I posted my measurements and I saw a few errors. i know there are errors because I still have the original paper I wrote them on. Original measurements: Bust: 39" Waist: 33" Hips: 41" Belly: 40" Thigh: 24" Calf: 14" Arm: 10.5" Wrist: 6.2" (I know, it's weird, but your wrist measurement indicates you frame type) New measurements: Bust: 39" Waist: 31" (2 inches!) Hips: 39" (2 inches!) Belly: 38" (2 inches!) Thigh: 24" Calf: 14" Arm: 10" Wrist: 6.2" So I've lost 2 inches on my waist, hips, and belly. Each of those are taken at the fullest part, so there is no mistaking it! I'm just so happy! Again, I don't really notice any difference. All my clothes fit the same way they always have (or they feel the same to me) and the jeans I couldn't fit into before, I still can't, but it's progress. The only other thing I wish to say, is that I don't think I'm going to make the April 30 deadline. It's clear that this takes a lot longer when your stubborn like me and refuse to make major life changes or go to the gym 5 days a week, but I'm proof that small changes can make a difference. I'm definitely not going to call it quites after this month though. I hope to be at least half way there by then though. That would only require losing 5 more pounds so it should be manageable Thanks for reading! Week 5 Day 1
Well, I have officially lost 1 pound. The scale said 160 this morning. So yay! I haven't played DDR yet this week, but I did do 25 crunches this morning. I know 25 isn't a lot, but I'm working my way up and I despise crunches. The fact that I'm willing to do any of those shows how determined I am to accomplish this seemingly impossible task. I know I haven't been posting my measurements, but they haven't changed, so I figure there is no point in listing them again. The minute they do improve, I'll be sure to post them, even if it's only a 18th of a inch!
Thanks for reading. Week 4 Day 1So, all weekend the scale stayed at 161lbs, so I guess I can officially say that I've lost 4 lbs! Yay. It only took 3 weeks of half ass diet and exercise to accomplish it. Okay so obviously, I don't feel like I have achieved anything, though I probably should because it's the first time I have ever attempted to lose weigh and succeed, if only a litte. This is by no means the end result, but hopefully, I get there soon enough. That's part of why I'm not as excited is because though it is undeniable, I don't see any results beyond a scale saying I'm four pounds lighter. I'm not doing this to lose weight, so much as to improve the way I look and hopefully my self-confidence. Weight loss is necessary to look better. Plus, I'd really love to say 130 when asked my weight. Week 3 Day 5
So I could have screamed because I was so happy this morning. I lost 4 pounds! Well, honestly, I probably didn't, but this morning the scale said 161 instead of it's usual 165. Yay. I did play DDR last night for at least 45 minutes. I also did a few exercises that are supposed to flatten your abs this morning. I don't know it they will work, but I know I could feel tension in my belly, and that's more than I can say for doing crunches. Beyond that, nothing has really changed to been accomplished. We'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if the scale will still show 161, it will have to do it for at least three days in a row before I'll truely believe it though.
Week 3 Day 3
So, I didn't play DDR yesterday or the day before. The excuses being that on Monday, my best friend lost her job and since that friend also has an unemployed husband and a 13 month old to support, her need for me surpassed my need to lose weight. I spend all afternoon helping her cope and keeping her happy-ish. Yesterday was grocery day, so after going to the store and then getting home and helping make dinner, it was 8 o'clock and I was tired.
I did weigh myself both yesterday and today. The number for both days is 165lbs. The good news is that I finally bought a (cheap) scale, so yay! Um...other than that, the only thing to report is I'm doing decent on the other parts of the weight loss plan. I haven't drank more than 12 oz of Dr. Pepper at lunch in over 2 weeks, which is a huge accomplishment for me (and that's compared to the at least 24 oz of before). I have also cut out my mid-afternoon snack, unless we have oranges at work, because, well, I like oranges and they are good for you. After I get home, I can't say much of it holds up, I still drink more soda than I should and not enough water, and though I have tried limit my desserts, I must admit that I have had at least one type of dessert per night. Last night wasn't so bad, just one piece of chocolate from the heart of chocolates my dad got me for Valentine's day, but Monday was just horrid. I don't have all that much self-control, especially when it comes it really good food. Oh well, I'm working my way up. |
