Don’t have time to log in to Kiwibox everyday? That’s okay, neither do I.

Or, are you on Kiwibox so much that you don’t need to see some of our emails? We’ll forgive you. We love you for being so loyal!

Anyway, if either of those situations applies to you, here’s what you do:

1. Click on “Edit Profile” at the bottom of your profile box.

2. Click the Notifications Tab (second from the right, in between About Me and Privacy).

3. Here you can choose what you do and do not want to receive via email. You can select:

a. New Friend Request Notification via Email
b. Kiwinote Notification via Email
c. New Profile Comment Notification via Email
d. New Photo Comment Notification via Email.

4. If you DO want to receive a notification, check the box next to what you want to receive. If you DO NOT want to receive a notification, uncheck the box.

5. Lastly, don’t forget to save these settings by clicking “Save Notifications” when you’re done!
That’s all for now, Kiwis!

Kiwinotes: Sticky Pads of the Future

Hey guys. Some of you ask me how to connect with other Kiwis, and so far I've given you tips on Postboards and Qbooks. However, if you want to add a little more of a personal touch, go to the Kiwinote!

Kiwinotes are a great way to say hey, ask a question, and have a little personal communication (but let's not get too personal [;)]). It's easy: just look at your profile and click on your Kiwinotes link. From there, you can read your inbox, write a new message, and see the notes you've sent in the past.

Don't have any inbox messages? Well, this is a two-way street! Don't be afraid to drop any Kiwi a note to say what's up. You might just spark a really cool friendship!

On the other hand, no stalking! If you send a couple messages to someone and they don't reply, don't flood their inboxes, please. We'd prefer not to see any abuse of your Kiwiness.

Go send a note!

And when you're done with that, don't forget to subscribe to these Kiwis' journals: Mike, Blair, Karolina, Matthew, Chelsea, Steven, Colleen, Bianca, Kylie and Patricia. Have fun!

Hi Kiwis! Happy Friday! Only one more week until the official start of Spring, so I hope you guys are hanging in there well!

So the KiwiStaff has begun a weekly journal campaign so that you guys can get a peek at the inner workings of Kiwibox. Believe it or not, there are names and faces behind everything that happens here, and we want you to meet everyone!

That being said, go check out Mike, Blair, Karolina, Matthew, Chelsea, Steven, Colleen, Bianca, Kylie and Patricia -- check out their profiles, read their journals, friend them, and subscribe!!! They want to hear from you, so don't be shy.

Okay, even I didn't know about this one! It's so much fun, and easy to get started!

1.Go here. This link is also in the Quick Links section at the bottom of any page you see on Kiwibox.

2. Upload a photo. You can even upload them straight from your Flickr account! Don't have your own photos saved on your computer or Flickr? No worries, we've got some for you to play with. (You can also do a Google Image Search and save what you find!)

3. Now you can add a frame to the photo, speech bubbles, and decorations! There is a whole bunch, so make sure you consider each and every one! [;)] For instance, there are like, six pages of decorations, of five each, so that means there are about 30 decorations to put on your photo!

4. When you've played to your heart's content, you can print it out or send it to a friend! If you send it, make sure to copy and paste the signup link from your account as well, so that you can get points when they sign up for Kiwibox!

Have fun playing!

Express Yourself with Kiwi Journals

02/20/09 04:48 pm | 9 Comments | Permanent link

Beware: This entry gets a little complicated. It's aimed at helping you get the absolute most out of KiwiJournals, so send me your questions if this doesn't answer them.

Clearly, this is one of my favorite topics!

Journals are a great way to air out what you're feeling – how school is going, the funny thing your friend said, and love problems… the list is infinite!

Diary, you ask? What diary? What's great about Kiwi Journals is that you can get feedback, like, "Wow, that was hilarious!" or, "I totally agree with you – don’t waste your time on him."
Here's a play-by-play of how to create your own journal:

1. Click "Journals" in the "Your Links" section of your profile, right next to your profile picture or icon.

2. Click "Create New Journal."

3. This is where you get started. But there are some sub-steps in here:

a. Name your journal anything you want. Be serious, be clever, whatever reflects your personality!

b. Choose a security setting.

i. If you want everyone on Kiwibox to be able to read what you write, AND for your journal to show up on journal lists, choose Public (this is the default, so make sure you change it if that's NOT what you want).

ii. If you still want everyone on Kiwibox to be able to read your journal but don't want it showing up on lists, choose Only in Profile. This means that people will only find your journal when they go to visit your profile page.

iii. If you only want some select people to be able to read your journal, choose Password Protected. They'll have to ask you for the password to read your entries.

iv. If you just want to use your journal for personal use and don't want anyone else to be able to read it, choose Totally Private, and then make a password for extra protection. Make it different from your main login password. Yes, that means it's another password to remember, but it's so safe!

c. Select an Audience. Think about what you might be writing. Think of it like movie ratings…

i. If your journal would be rated G or PG if it was a movie, choose "For a Family Audience."

ii. If it would be rated PG-13 or R, choose "For a Mature Audience." This will keep the younger Kiwis extra safe.

d. Now you get to describe this journal. You can write anything you like about what you'll be entering in it, but keep it brief and specific.

4. Remember that you won't be making a new journal each time. Your journal will contain separate entries.

5. Before you post an entry, you'll be asked if you want to:

a. Include a list of people who commented your last entry so that you can give them shout outs. (If this is your first entry, don't worry about it.)

b. Include a list of people who are subscribed to your journal.

c. A couple other things that you don't need to worry about.

6. Now go write to your heart's content!

7. When you make a journal entry, you'll be able to change the font, font size, background and text colors, and things like that. Be creative!

You can stop reading here; you've got the basics. Or, if you want to really make the most out of your journal, read on:

8. Make that journal snazzy! You may be familiar with HTML: if you are, you've pretty much already got this step down. Don't be fooled, though, there are differences. If you're not familiar with HTML, don't you fret, this is SO simple. Try it out! What we use at Kiwibox is IVML – it's like a watered down version of HTML. Whenever you write a journal, there will be a link to the IVML code reference popup, and it's really, really useful. Here you'll find the codes to make a word bold, or italic, or enter a smiley. Just place the code in front of the word or phrase, then the closing code at the end of the word or phrase. The difference between HTML and IVML is that HTML uses less than/greater than signs (<, >) and IVML uses brackets ([,]). That's it!

Now start writing!!
