Summer, JEL, Eagle's, Band

  • 07/30/03 3:41 pm
[box align=center]How to start...

Well, Summer's here. I'm bored. What more can I say?
[hr color=silver]
The JEL summit in Ames was lots of fun. I convinced my friend Kim to go w/ me. I learned a lot. The dorms last year were nicer though. This year we were in Larch on the 5th floor. I hated the stairs. The food was ok. I hope I make executive council. That would be sweet.

Well, I've got a part time job for a while. Unfortunately, my employer, Eagle Country Market, is gonna close soon. Like in September. Oh well. I'm a bagger, and I've been like laid off so much.(man i hate my sisters music. im trying to find something to listen to) Last night i convinced a cashier to show me how to run a register. I wish i were a cashier. I hope someone like Cub Foods buys Eagle.

BAND! I LOVE IT! I am band librarian, and yesterday I stuffed 200 band folders! It was fun! On sunday we have our section leaders meeting, and monday camp starts. I love band. It's my last season of marching. I miss mr. collins. i really do.We have 21 altos, 3 tenors, and 3 baris this year. (saxes). We have 41 clarinets, 25 trumpets, 10 horns, 8 euphoniums, 5 tubas, and i forgot everything else. oh well. Big band. 215 people. We will almost need 5 buses this year. i cant wait for school to start. I've already got a bunch of school supplies.

I need to get going. Bye!

Finals, college, Amazing Grace, graduation (not me)

  • 05/31/03 2:34 pm
Good Morning, America!
[8)][8)][8)]

I wish I could study for finals. I am such a huge procrastinator. I have two finals on Monday, chemistry and algebra/trig, and I still have to make my crib sheets for those. I also need to rewrite 5 papers for expressive writing and write a 1 page paper on what I learned in exp. writing. I got lucky, cuz I don't usually need to study. But when I do, I can't. I wish I had a tiny little room with a desk, a chair and a light to do my homework in. There's too much distraction elsewhere.

My college search is going pretty well
1)Simpson College
1)Monmouth College
3)Clarke College
4)Cornell College
5)Wartburg College
6)Drake University
7)Knox College
8)Saint Ambrose University
So far, that is my top 8 list of colleges that I have visited. Yes, I know there are two number ones. That is because they are tied for first place.
Other colleges I want to visit are:
1)Beloit College
2)Central College
3)Coe College
4)Luther College
5)University of Northern Iowa
6)Upper Iowa University
These are in no particular order (except alphabetically)
[hr color=silver]
Oh boy. What else to say. Oh yeah. Today I am going to 4 graduation parties. Tomorrow is our graduation ceremony. I am playing my sax in it. We are playing several songs.
1)Prariesong
2)Amazing Grace
3)Heritage of Freedom
4)America the Beautiful
5)Battle Hymn
6)Processional/Recessional
Oh man I love Amazing Grace. There is such a sweet alto solo. And guess who got it! Me! It's awesome. Frank Ticheli wrote it, and he is an excellent composer. I think his first name's Frank. I'm having a brain fart. I know it's Ticheli though.

I wish I could have gone to the outlet center with my mom today. But I had to stay home cuz of those graduation parties. Oh well. That reminds me. I need to print out some graduation cards.
I guess I better get off. All of u have fun!

May Day

  • 05/01/03 11:55 am
Today is May First. Today, I am only attending 1st, 4th, and 6th periods. 2nd and 3rd periods I will be at Riverdale Heights reading my children's book to 5th graders for expressive writing. I picked Rachel's sister, Rianna, and a girl named Gabrielle. We also made may baskets for them. I think they turned out pretty cool. I brought some Starbursts to put in the baskets.

Also today is District Band Night! Woohoo! I love it! Our songs will sound sooooo cool! We have rehearsal for that during 7th and 8th periods. 5th period is band, but we'll be practicing in the gym. I love band.

Going along with the May 1st scheme and Band, it's our band director's birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. A!

I want to go to a summer music camp. I want to go to the one at Luther College, but I don't know how good it is. If anyone has been to it, could you let me know what it's like? Thanks.

Also this summer is the JEL summit. This will be my second year. It's gonna be sooooooooooo cool!

Well, I really should finish up about now. I'll try to get on tomorrow and give Before-Prom stories. Bye!

Good Morning World!

  • 04/30/03 11:59 am
Our District band concert is tomorrow. I can't wait. It'll be so much fun. Our two songs, Alleluia and Gandalf, will rock the gym. It's also Mr. Anderson's birthday tomorrow. Wonder what we'll do.

I woke up with a cold yesterday morning. No fun. I still have it. Luckily yesterday was a lazy day. Hopefully today is the same.
LAZY DAY!
[hr color=green]

I'm testing some IVML, so forgive me if these do not work.

I need to do several things, but I'm not going to do anything today.

Prom is on Saturday. I'm excited, but also nervous. This is my first formal dance in 2 years!

Hopefully, I'll get on later!

An Update In My Life

  • 04/25/03 11:55 am
Sax World= Andy challenged Drew, who then challenged me. I was really worried because I did not want to go down a seat. I didn't really practice as much as I should have, and I messed up a little on my scales, which were the easiest ones for the alto sax. But I still won, which means that as soon as State Large Group is over, I will be first chair. I hope we play Amazing Grace again this year. It is such a beautiful song. Plus it's got an awesome solo for the alto. I really wanted to do a sax trio, but I guess everyone was just too busy April 12th. Oh well. There's always next year. Plus I was still in clarinet choir and woodwind choir. Speaking of woodwind choir, we had to play Wednesday night at Academic Awards Night. Josh was "on his deathbed" according to Cory, and so I had to play 1st alto with no one on 2nd. Chelsea didn't come either, so we didn't have a tenor sax. Oh well. All turned out okay. I need to start playing the bari so I can play it really well next year.
Academics= I made National Honor Society. I got another star for my letter jacket. I am actually understanding math and chem right now, so I might pull off a gpa higher than 4.0 this semester.
Social Life= What social life? Just kidding. Actually it's bloomed just a little bit. Kim and I are going to prom next Saturday (as friends), and she has agreed to go to the JEL summit with me. I also went to Kim's b-day party in March. Okay, I really don't have a social life, but that's not my problem. Everyone has my number, and if they lost it i'd give it to them again. (This does not apply to people that randomly read my journal!)

Right Now:
time: 6:57 AM
eating: strawberry Halls cough drop; my throat's sore.
Thinking: I should probably do my math homework
Looking forward to: visiting Knox College tomorrow
