I kinda forgot about this for a week. I'd update this now, but I don't have time before class. I'll update tonight or tomorrow.

minor disappointment

I worked 8-3 today. When Sara came in at quarter to two, she hinted that she wanted to go out for a beer tonight.

Perhaps I should've known better to get my hopes up, but she canceled. I can understand. Closing takes a lot out of you, and she's been working a lot, especially with student teaching.

But I haven't been out with Sara in over two months. I just kinda feel like I really should.

I don't know.

I've got a lot of schoolwork to do, but of course I don't feel like doing any of it.

We'll see what happens.

I <3 WOODCHUCKS!! Loooooooooooooooong update.

So, Friday night, Julie, Brett and I go to Old Chicago after work. We have a few drinks and talk. I had two draft Woodchucks and a bottle Woodchuck. We also had nachos. It was a fun night.

Saturday, I worked during the day. My parents and I went out with my cousin Jen and her guy Jim for dinner at the Circle. They have some of the best ribs ever. I had two Smirnoff Ices. Then, we migrate over to McGuires. I have a Smirnoff Wild Grape (silly me! shoulda gone with a Woodchuck). Sally and Mike join us, and Paul, and I text Brett saying McGuires is awesome! Brett joins us, as well as one of his friends. By this point I was smart and had a Woodchuck. I ended up having another one that night, too. Mmmmm, woodchucks! Semi-late night, but it was fun.

Then Sunday. Sunday was nuts at work. Brandon and I were supposed to be the only two floor partners all day, but of course he was too hungover to bother coming to work. That left me as the only floor partner. It was nuts. I went home and did homework afterwards.

Then comes Monday. I had two tests and one review session. They seemed to go ok. Later Monday I go to work. The three team leaders are there, but they get off at 4:30. No one else was scheduled that day. So, I once again close by myself. It started off okay, I built a picnic table. But then the TLs left. I had to get on a register, but I was shut down right away so I could get a 10 piece patio set and two chaises for a member. Well, the patio set was buried in receiving. I had to get help to get it all out. The member could only take part of it at first, so we had to hold the rest for later. Then, we sold the display to a huge outdoor marquee sign. That was interesting to get down. This thing is like 4 ft by 8 ft by 1 ft or something. We had to get the forklift out to get it down. And we sold a 5 cubic foot freezer, but that was easy. The manager calls me over the walkie, telling me to meet him up front. He hands me a paper saying there's a recall on granola bars (damn salmonella-tainted peanut butter!!) So, of course, I had to pull all of them off the shelf. By now it's 7 or so, and I hadn't taken a lunch yet (I got in at 2). I'm tired and cranky and pissed that we're so insanely busy. The guy comes back for the patio set. He says, well, just put the whole pallet in the back of the truck. I've never driven a forklift to load a vehicle before. Thankful Coach Brian was there to guide me. That was interesting. And then I had to load out a fireplace that they sold earlier in the day. After all of that, it finally lightened up a bit. I worked on zoning grocery, and we were out of there around 9:30 or so.

I was exhausted, but then I remembered that it was Groundhog's Day. That means that Old Chicago has $2 Woodchucks! So, I go over there and play the trivia game and have a Woodchuck. But wait. The bartender says if you have one draft and one bottle, you get a free t-shirt. So, although I was only planning on having one, I had two. I got myself a nice XL Woodchuck t-shirt. Let me tell you, though. I'm starting to really love draft Woodchuck. That was what I had first on Monday night, and it was wonderful. I go home and go to bed after that.

Tuesday was uneventful. Took an algebra test (which I thought was easy), and then went to chemistry only to find that it was canceled.

Today, I got my history test back. 14/20. I'm pretty happy about that. Now I know what to study a little better for next time. Then, we had algebra. Got that test back, and got 97.5%. That was sweet!! After that was Econ. 90%. Woo! Went to work at 2 to learn that I'm supposed to be there at 2:45, but I brought econ to work on. I was at the door for most of the night, until it got busy up front and Julie wanted a fast cashier up there. I traded spots with Jo. I was on a flatbed lane, and my wrist didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Oh yeah. My left wrist really started hurting on Saturday. I've been bracing it off and on since then, and it's starting to feel better (at least I think so).

Umm, yeah. I've typed a lot, and that brings you up to speed. I was going to do a 25 Things thing for Facebook, but I think this is it for now. I might do that tomorrow. I also need to go grocery shopping badly.

mmmmm beer!!

O.M.G.

I just got back from Old Chicago.

The damn raccoons are with me.

But I'm correcting them.

I had three Woodchucks...

mmmmmm!!!!!!!!!

I think I'm slightly toasted.

I had a great time, though.

Another update

  • 01/30/09 4:51 am
I had algebra and chemistry today. Those two classes are probably my easiest classes. They went well.

I closed tonight as door greeter. I was surprised at how fast the time went. I thought it'd drag on and on. It was boring, yes, but it was ok. If I get paid $9.40/hr to stand in one spot and draw on receipts with a highlighter, then I'll take it.

I got home, and got on Facebook like I usually do. And Brett's on Facebook like he usually is. I updated my status to "Kimberly is in need of a foot massage and a night out." So, Brett responds to my status change like he always does, and we made informal plans to go out tomorrow night after we both close. I haven't been out in at least two weeks. It'll be nice. I haven't been out with Brett in well over a month. Even longer for Sara, surprisingly. I'd invite Sara to join us tomorrow night, but it's her 6th month anniversary with her boyfriend. So, they've got plans. (The funny thing is, it's actually their 5 month. They got together on August 31st, not July 31st. I would know. I was the first person to know that they were a couple.)

Anyway, so that's that. I'm procrastinating. I should be looking over chapters 1 & 2 in my history book, understanding the discussion questions that we'll be discussing tomorrow in class. But no. I'm updating my journal. I'm going to update this more often since Anne reminded me that she reads this every day.

Hmmm what else. Sam's got a visit from the district manager today. For the first time in a really really really long time, Center Section did really well. The last two visits, we got a 2.0 out of 4.0. Jeremy didn't tell me what center's score was today, but he said the club score was 3.5. That's really good. Plus, we were up in sales today, and that drives spirits up, as well.

Ok. I really should get back to history now.
