[color=yellow][font=arial] Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of entries. I've been on Facebook a lot of the time that I am on the net.. which isn't really that often anymore.. with school, and Ben, and other junk in between, lol. But things are going well.. the job is good, I just got paid (FINALLY!) for the first time, so yay :) And Ben and I are doing well also.
As for me... I had my graduation yesterday! So I have officially graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus. WOW! It seems long while you're there but time really does just fly by! Now I just have to take my registration exam in 2 weeks, and then I'll be a REAL Vet Tech :) Exciting.. I got the award for the best mark in anaesthesia.. I just got a calculator and a picture frame.. but hey it's nice to be recognized :) I got enough little awards and scholarships along the way that I at least got out of school debt-free so that's definitely a good thing!
Today I went to a wedding shower for a girl on my dad's side of the family.. her name is Angie and she happens to be a Vet Tech as well. She knows the girl that I lived with, Steph, because she happens to live in the same town as her and they work at the same clinic. Small world! So I had my bonding time with her lol it was quite fun.. For tonight.. Ben is off to a cabin a couple of hours away with some of his buddies and I'm heading out for the night with some of my friends to a bar, and my friend Mark who was across the country for the entire school year has just come back! And I shall see him for the first time in like forever! So it will be fun.. w00ts :) I am excited..

Hey everyone! Today was my second day at my new job at the animal hospital. I'm training just at the front right now, I'm getting cross-trained so I can basically fill all positions once I'm done. It's been hectic but I'm slowly catching on to the way things are run there! I will be having not-quite-full-time hours for the first few weeks while I'm training, but that's OK because it can be a lot to take in, plus I'm getting "homework" from them as well as an online course I'm taking as a review for the National exam I have to take to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, in June. So I'm being kept busy!
Tomorrow I have the day off, which is nice. I plan to catch up a bit on my sleep and homework type stuff, and relax of course ;) Not sure what's up for the evening, but Saturday will be busy... taking Danko to the vet to get his ears re-checked (he had an infection in one of them) and he had mild colitis so he was taking pills for that as well.. after this check-up I'll be switching him over to my clinic, it's pretty cool cos we get a free annual exam for one pet every year, which takes care of Danko and his vaccines, so that's pretty neat :) My other 2 cats at home just have to pay for the vaccination fee (no exam fee) so it's still cheaper to go there. Then in the afternoon/evening, there are 3 birthday parties I'm making "appearances" at... the vet from the hospital I'm working at now just had his 60th birthday so there is a surprise party waiting for him earlier in the afternoon. Then I'm heading to my friend Leanne's party a couple of hours later and then probably around 11-ish I'm heading to one of the bars to celebrate Ben's friend's birthday, I believe.. at least I think that's why we're going there, I know he is having a birthday. lol. Anyhoo should be a fun (and.. slightly drunken) weekend... haha..
Today at work though.. was kind of crazy. I mean not really bad, but in the morning it was sad because this woman came in with an emergency case, her cat was basically dying on her. The vet wasn't even in and he had the key to the controlled drugs, and the cat had to be euthanized. So basically we put it on oxygen and then got permission from the vet to just turn the anaesthetic up to the highest level. Well the senior Nurse on duty had to go to appointments so I was stuck in the back holding the mask to the poor cat's face while the owner sat there crying the whole time.. for over an hour. Finally, after the cat had stopped breathing and we were waiting for it's heart to stop (it took a LONG time), the vet came back. I didn't end up watching it actually die but he did end up euthanizing the normal way. It was just.. sad, really. Poor kitty.. it was young too.. just over a year.. it had FIV, the poor little guy. And I felt so... helpless... like not really knowing what to say to the lady for that time but still just trying to come up with things like you're doing the right thing, and talking about his life, and stuff like that.. ahh! Stressful. But I made it through.. I can see why people get burned out so easily in this career though!
