The R&B star called Cocktail the b-word more than once, losing his composure more and more as the minutes (which seemed like hours) dragged on. The show Kim Kardashian sex tape ended without an update on Ray and Mz Berry, even though we can guess that it was the end of a relationship that never really began. I'm left wondering -- Aren't Ray J and his mother Sonja listed as producers of this show? Who invited Cocktail to make the star of the show look like a total jerk? Then again, things were already looking bad for Ray J after he started confessing his reconsidered feelings for Jaguar (a season two contestant he wished he hadn't eliminated) while his "girlfriend" Mz Berry was still waiting to see him backstage.

"Its more like phases. Phases, you go in and out of." Susan would know. She's a best-selling author and New York City-based grief counselor with decades of experience, and someone who has experienced the painful loss of a loved one. When read the lyrics of Ray J's single, she laughed ("That's pretty good!") before noting: "Hes obviously angry at something, and I can tell you as someone who was deeply in love with someone who died, thats the angriest youll ever be in your life." That anger might be the culmination of a decade's worth of, ahem, interesting behavior from Ray J following the release of the tape. Since 2007, Ray J has starred in two VH1 shows, one dedicated to his finding love (For The Love of Ray J) and the other about life with his more-famous sister (BrandyandRay J: A Family Business).
If this is the case -- which it most assuredly is given Ray J's record for intellectual and moral decency -- then we must dig deeper and understand what Ray J truly "hit first." A close-reading of the lyrics to I Hit It First yielded a few possibilities. I hit it, I hit it, I hit it, I hit it, I hit it, I hit it first." These introductory lyrics to I Hit It First suggest that Ray J may have been the first (and greatest) player of the late-90's cult-toy-darling, Bop It! Ray J's reliance on words like "hit," "hop," and "boppers," as well as his claim that he can do it all without "even put[ting] in work" makes the Bop It thesis incredibly persuasive. Given the tactile nature of Bop It, in which one must "pull" and "twist" and "squeeze" and "bop" it, confusing Ray J's lyrics for a song about sex is understandable but ultimately misinformed.
