For those who don't know Grace Kelly, she was an American film actress in the 1950's. Born Grace Patricia Kelly on November 12, 1928, she made 8 films from 1951 until 1956. She was born in Philadelphia to a former cover girl, and a wealthy industrialist, and former world champion oarsman Jack Kelly. Her uncle was Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright George Kelly.

At the age of ten Kelly made her first appearance as an actress in a small Philadelphia production. She attended to Raven Hill Academy and then Stevens School, both in Philadelphia, before moving to New York City. While there Kelly took up modeling and attended acting classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She auditioned for many plays, but could only land the parts for cigarette commercials on TV. Finally, at the age of 20 she made her stage debut on Broadway in a revival of August Strindberg's The Father.

In 1951 Kelly's beauty caught the attention of Hollywood, and she was cast a small part in the film Fourteen Hours. In 1952 she got her first starring role as Gary Cooper's wife in High Noon, a western. The following year she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Mogambo. But her Award didn't come until 1954, in which she one for The Country Girl.
