I told you to give it up, didn't I? I asked you over and over. I love you. You needed help; I was here to give it but you just dismissed it. I knew it wouldn't be easy; why do you think I stayed with you for so long? I thought you could do it, but I guess I was wrong. Remember the candy hearts we always played with on Valentine's Day? Sure, you do. There is no way you could have forgotten them. You made me a story with them like we did when we were in second grade. "Fax Me," that was always our favorite. And that one time when that girl blew you off, before all of this, you came to me and we made a voodoo doll then flicked the candies at her. I had you forgetting about her in a matter of hours. Now you just turn to some substance.
You know it is truly is amazing you are alive. I wished you had listened to us. Your mom, your sister, even my little brother who you know isn't that little anymore. I'll never forget when he used to follow you through our house when we were in 8th grade and he was only in 5th. He loved you. Quite possibly more than I do. No, impossible. I love you more than anyone. I love you more than anything. We were supposed to be best friends forever. Just like those necklaces we used to have of the hearts that were split into two puzzle pieces.
