What you need to know

If you've been to a Sex Ed. class, you've probably learned about STD's. You figure, "Oh, it will never happen to me," but it does. It can happen to anyone, at any time. You might think that you and your boyfriend have a open relationship, but he could be hiding something from you. He could be hiding his sex life and any STD's he has. The number of teens infected with STD's is rising and many of those diseases are incurable and some, like AIDS, can lead to death. 2/3 of the people with STD's are under the age of 25 and 1 in 5 Americans have a STD-pretty frightening facts.

Hepatitis C affects almost 4 million Americans and it is spread by contact between blood. This can happen during the using of needles or through unprotected sex. The disease causes swelling in the victim's liver, which means that it can no longer clean your blood. That can lead to cirrhosis, liver cancer and eventually, liver failure. About 8000 to 10000 Americans die each year because of this disease.

While it isn't as serious as some other STD's, Herpes is a life-long disease that is incurable and very painful. It causes blisters that are similar to cold sores on your genitals. It is transmitted through sex, even if you are using a condom, you can still get Herpes. That means that anyone you have sex with will get the disease and any children you give birth to are at risk for contracting the disease.

I hate seeing that articles dealing with (sexual and non sexual)
health are not being placed on the site cover, when petty stuff
like TMNT is up there.

Anyway, the article was decent for giving a brief description of
STD's, however there is much more detail that could have been
written into the article to shine more light on the fact that
STD's aren't like the common cold.
A great way to start off an educational article on STDs might be
to spell out what it means -- Sexually Transmitted Disease.

Maybe it's assumed to be common knowledge, but a lot of Kiwibox
users don't seem to know the first thing about sex or their body.
This is a good start, though.
this was poorly written
