Graduation is a happy, but a sad time as well. It is happy because it is the end of great years spent at our school. It also marks the beginning of a new step in life. The sad part is just having to say goodbye to all the good times.

Music is a part of everyone's life. Since graduation is such a memorable time, music should be part of it. There is a song about almost anything. For graduation the songs mostly used are songs about friends, the past, the future, memories, reaching goals, and so much more. There isn't really a song for 2003 for graduation yet, but there are some past favorites that can still be used. There are also a few current songs that might fit into the graduation category. These songs can be requested for your graduation of or just to be played at prom. Listening to them will either make you laugh or cry, but whatever emotion they bring to you, I hope that you just enjoy them.

Congratulations Class of '03! These songs are in no particular order:
1. Vitamin C's song "Graduation (Friend's Forever)"
This is a perfect song for graduation. It talks about the future and looking back on the past, memories and especially friends. The message of this song is that no matter what happens in the future "we will still be friends forever."

2. Eve 6's song "Here's To The Night"
This song is about not wanting to say goodbye and how the future is coming too soon. The song is a toast to all the good times.

Well, my class didn't really have one, but two songs pop in my
head as good ones. One is "Blackbird" by the Beatles, because it
talks about learning to fly, like we are learning to break away
from what's known to us, and the other, if you want to enter the
genre of Broadway music, is "Human Heart" from "Once On This
Island", because it talks about how we're all part of one, mainly
the heart, and that's a nice idea for graduates to think about
when they get stressed in the "real world." I hope this helped. Go

my class song this year was lynyrd skynyrd's free bird... i think
it's appropriate becuz it talks about leaving and being
remembered... and things like that.... Congrats Class of '03!

I graduated last year... we're all big drinkin'
everybody-knows-everybody country hicks where I'm from... Our
class song was the theme song from the tv show "Cheers"... how
appropriate :)

Our senior choir is singing "I Hope You Dance" at the ceremony for
commencement. I also like the Beatles' "I Love You More", about
how all the magic of the past will be a special memory but the
presesnt/future is antalizing and exciting.
Since I am going to Germany in August (for a year exchange) I
would love to find a good German song.

prom the song was "You Look Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton. I

This year for our senior class they played Green Day's song "Good
Riddance (Time of Your Life)" at prom and Vitamin C's song

I haven't graduated yet (Go Class of 2005)but i am pretty sure
when i do out class song will be "Friends in Low Places" by Garth
Brooks. At all the school dances the dj plays it and my whole
class gets in a big circle lock arms and dances to it. Those are
the best times..

we didnt reeally have a song but we had school wide inside jokes
that our principal talked about like the shirt tale police and the
surpise discoveries in auto shop. i am gonna miss all my friends.
congrats to all the other seniors in the class of 03!

I've had a song for every school I've left. Sarah Mclachlan's song
was out when I was leaving like elementary school or something,
Green Day's and Vitamin C's song was when i was leaving middle
school, and Eve6's song was when I was moving from one high school
to another. I feel like this year, nothing's new. i dont want to
use old stuff. Boo. Class of 03 rules, we should have something
new.

I graduated last Sunday (may 25) and our song was Tonight, Tonight
by the Smashing Pumpkins. Originally our class wanted Taste of
Ink by The Used (best song) but it is about suicide so we couldn't
have it.

i graduate next year, but my school doesn't really do grad
songs....but we have a senior video instead, filled with shots of
seniors and senior activities from teh whole year and we sell it
once school is out. but next year, i'm probably going to be
incharge of it, and i have to get together some aweosme songs to
go with it, all that would remind everyone of how awesome high
school was....this article really helped! any more sugggestions
for what i could use?

My class song was "Warning" by Incubus... I think the main reason
this song was chosen is because of it's message to "count your

scary...graduating isnt such a big deal here in england ...but our
year made it a big deal ^-^...we had "Goodbye To You" by Michelle
Branch....we changed the words a bit tho...and had a giurl from
our year sing it...i can say..i cried so much ...well it was

Well I graduated from 8th last Wednesday and at first one of my
teachers wanted to play "Who let the Dogs out" by Baha Men cause
our mascot is a Bulldog.....I thought it was original but the
majority of kids wanted "Graduation" by Vitamin C soooo we had to

When I graduated last year one song we used was the Cheer's theme
song ("Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your
name..."). Which was actually kind of ironic since it was a class
of about 400 where we didn't know everyone's name and if we did,
we probably didn't like them. Good choice. :)

Well I didn't graduate from 8th grade yet but last years graduates
had their song by Vinamin C, you know the girl with the orange
hair back in th late 90's. Well they played her song it made a
very sad and reality checked emotion. I forgot what it was called
but it went like this,
As we go on, we'll remember all the times we had
together.......etc.

Um, this may sound weird, but a really good graduation song, in my
opinion, would be something that helps express individuality; a
great example of this is "The Anthem" by Good Charlotte. Who says
grad songs have to be slow and weepy and boring? "The Anthem" is
cool because of its message: Stay true to yourself and don't
conform just to please others. The song for the Class of 2003 at
my school this year is "Here's To The Night" by Eve 6. I think
that is an awesome choice.

play. I personally don't like it, i thought we could have picked
a much better song but the class wanted to be different this year.

that most of us didnt like!

First time I graduated was public school, and they played the

years of highschool to get through. I'm just finishing up my 3rd
year of highschool, and I have one more year til I can go be on my

Recently a fellow senior in my homeroom died. It was about a
month ago. A lot of us felt comforted by Sarah McLauglin, "I Will

Hey, I'm graduating Thursday. Class of 2003 ahhh scary! Anyways,
the senior class song passed down through every year for as long
as I can remember is Bon Jovi - Livin On A Prayer. It's
absolutely awesome. It just makes us all feel alive. At prom, it
was the last song they played and all the seniors came together
and held hands, jumped up and down, and sang together. It's
amazing.

video and c-d for my school we used most of these songs like "It's

"Time of your life" we also used "I'll be there for you" by the

The graduating class of 2003 just graduated on May 18, and their
song was Garth Brooks' "The River". I think that song is
appropriate, but I also thing that the Beatles "The Long and
Winding Road" is an appropriate song too. That song was my mothers
graduating song back in '77 or '78. I think it would be really
cool for my school's graduating class of 2004 (my class) to have
the same song that my mother had for graduation. But I'm weird
like that

i'm in gr. 11 and a coupke gr 11's get picked to sing the grad
song to the grads. i was one of the people picked. it's another
really good song that rod stewart sings it's call "Faith of the
Heart". When we sing it .. I'm gunna cry so much. congrats grads

you have to understand our class...we have about 500 kids in our
senior class, and we are all weird, goofy and outgoing. for out
back to school dance, we changed it to 'back to old skool". for
the sadie hawkins dance...80s clothes! at our senior dinner dance,
there was about an hour of straght up 80s/early 90s music. the
dong that everyone talked about was when we requested vanilla
ice's ninja rap. on teh last day of school for seniors, they do a
salut to teh seniors on our TV station. the background songs is
usually sad and sappy, but the kids and the teachers made an
exception this year b/c we are so werid, so our senior songs in
none other than the ninja Rap!!

The seniors here haven't graduated yet. They graduate on June 1.
But on senior awards day the chorus sang Vitamin C's song
"Graduation (Friends Forever)". But it sounded a little different.
It actually made the song sound a little sadder. I've always liked
that song and I think that's a song schools will play for a long
time at graduations.

i think i'll go cry now that i'm reminded about all this
graduation stuff. i graduated c/o 2002 and wwe also had the song
"I hope you dance" and our jazz choir sang it. when they started
singing, almost everyone out on that field started crying. the
year before their song was "in my life" (not sure if that's the
name of the song) by the beattles. that's an awsome song u should
listen to it.

grade...we dont get any kind of "graduation" until 12th, but i
don't really care because as much as i love my class and as much

Here's to the Night by Eve 6. Those are really awesome for grad
night. The Graduation song is too corny, the Sunscreen song is not

I'm a senior graduating this year on June 7th. I got the privelage
to sing at our Baccalaureate ceremony, and I get the privelage to
sing at graduation also. at Baccalaureate, I did a memorial for my
friend that died in 5th grade, and I played "It's So Hard To Say
Goodbye to Yesterday" by Boyz II Men, and "Missing You" by
P.Diddy. For Graduation, I will be singing "Wherever You Are by
The Martins and "Hero" by Mariah Carey. I think these fit well
with graduation. I'm gonna cry on that day! I can't believe it's

I was actually sad because I really wanted the Eve 6 song "Here's
To The Night" as our song, but last year's class used it. I think
that's a great graduation song, plus I love Eve 6. Our song is
this one from the movie Treasure Planet, I've never even heard
it!! I think it's called I'm Still Here, by Johnny Rzeznik.
Someone told me that its about like surviving struggles and making

First of all, I'd like to say that at my school we have a
tradition where the juniors sing a song to the seniors. It's
really cute. This year, we're singing forever young. It just
fits so perfectly. The seniors actually get two songs. One they
walk out with and one they sing. The seniors this year have

i think the songs chosen by the author are great songs, but i have
to say that they are the "typical graduation songs" you hear at
almost every commencement. i say step out on a limb and be
creative with your class songs. my class song choice (to this day,
a year later, we have no idea who the heck voted for it!) was
terrible, it was faith hill's "there you'll be" from pearl harbor.
a pretty song, but it had nothing to do with graduation. i think
the beatles' "in my life" would be a great class song. i do like
greenday "good riddance" that was the song my sophomore year. but
look at songs like "don't you forget about me" by simple minds or
something that speaks of memories and friends and moving forward,
but doesn't say it in such a clicheed fashion. but i'm not
condemning the author or anything, it was a perfectly good
article, just typical songs.

We actually had 2 songs for our grad, one was wind of change by
scorpion and the othe was down on the corner by CCR.

it's good to have a happy song too becuase this is about
celebration high school is ahard time in peoples lives maybe not
about grades but some kids are mean.

Everyone has to go through tough times in high school so you
should also be celebrating that you got through it.

I graduated last year and reading this article made me think of
how worried i was because all of my friends were going to a
different school, we are spread out at about 6 different ones but
we still manage to keep in touch.

And if you guys really are friends you will keep in touch. Of
course things won't be that same and you are probably are scared
of growing up but that is all about the life experience.

I just finished my first year of college and i find that it went
by so fast, you are so busy all the time that you won't have time
to realize that you are growing up.

I don't want to lecture you but everyone knows the prom cliche of
losing your virginity.

I'll tell you right now it's not worth it. In case you are all
wondering no i didn't on prom night because that is just a stupid
tradition.

You should wait until it is the right person and until you are
completly ready.

for our 8th grade graduation we played vitamin c i cried so bad
because i knew most of my friends were going to drop out of high
school and of course they did now im left with almost no one.

remember what it is it's about after high school what happened
when she saw her old school mates and she sees this lady that
works in a video store that used to be a theater freak and a guy
that was kinda like an outlaw until his fate caught up to him and

i think when i went to prom this year they played i will remember

I have no idea what this year's song for our school is. But i'm
not in 12th so i wouldent. Most of the songs........err i dont
know when ever i hear them its just......weird because it sturs up
feelings and yeah. But at the end of each year they play "I Will
Remember You" for the Middle School. They also played that song
when a 6th grader last year died in the gym room. That scared the
living crap outta me. but yeah

I have two more years left til i graduate, but because of it i've
lost a lot of people that are my friends. last year i lost one of
the funniest guys i know but im sure we'll never talk again, and
next year im losing nearly all of my friends and im sure i will
only talk to one of them after she leaves. its sorta sad, but i
cant wait til i leave.

They played U2 at our grad ceremony yesterday, along with The
Verve's Bittersweet Symphony. For a uni graduation, that's not
bad. I thought the Symphony was an eloquent sendoff to spending
four years of torture there. I could be wrong though.

The graduation song by Vitamin C is my fave. Omg, they played
that song during our senior slide show at our senior banquet, I
almost cried. Our senior song is Aerosmith "Fly Away" Don't
remember the exact title. Its awesome though! I graduate this
next sunday the 25th.

When we finished Year 11, our headteacher dedicated S Club 7's
"reach" to us, so this year (year 13) we changed the words so they
reflected our lives at school, and made it our Leaver's Song, and
sang it to the school, and to our parents at our Leaver's
Ceremony. At our prom last night they played it, and we all got on
the dance floor and sang along with 'our' words - it was so
sad!!!

yeah i have two more years but i thought i'd share the song that
the choir seniors sang on thursday night. they sang "there you'll
be" it was really really sad cuz a bunch of them started crying.

it's so sad.. graduation. All of the friends and groups splitting
up. Not knowing if they will keep in touch or see eachother.. i
love the graduation song. It makes me cry. I'm not graduating from
highschool yet.. another 5 years to go ... but until then this
song has taught me to cherish every moment in my life with my
friends, family.. even enemies of mine. Just cherish every
moment..cuz you'll regret if u don't.

I'm graduation on Wednesday! YAY! Anyway, these are actually good
ideas for graduation, I mean, usually, there are articles like
this, and they just suck. The music has nothing to do with the
subject matter, these do. :o) I don't know, I guess really, I
wouldn't sugest anyone playing/singing these for graduation, just
because they're overdone and stuff, but they're good.

To tell the truth I dont think Graduation friends 4 ever is a song
to play at graduation. Cuz I think thats a song that nobody should
touch. Im very glad we picked "time of your life" cuz I that
would be wrong. And dont get me wrong I love that song soooo much.
Nobody can imagen. But thats what I think. And Congrats to the

Although I'm graduating in a week's time (still doing exams now)
but I doubt that we'll have any graduation songs...but when I was
in Taiwan (1999) my seniors altered the lyrics of the song
American Pie and a tall senior sang it. He wasn't a great singer
but they made it funny. SO GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE WHO IS HAVING EXAMS
AND EVERYONE WHO IS GRADUATING THIS YEAR!

My class is small and it had alot of difficulty in choosing a
song. No one would bring songs in to vote on so the one that did
had to be picked which is pretty dumb to me and most people,
because the girl that brought it in is the only one who likes it.
It's "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson. The song is like A
moment to be kissed, not like the moment of grad and everything,
so yes it is so screwed. I would have loved "It's hard to say
goodbye" by Boys II men.

We've finally made it!!!! Woo~Hoo...it just keeps getting closer
and closer...and when you think about it...well for me, I am happy
yet sad cuz who knows what will happen! Anywho...the song I like
best is Time of Your Life because that was the song that all the
seniors sang and listened to during cheer camp this past summer.

Reading all these songs really helped me to reflect. I'm
graduating this year, and the song we chose is common, but it
means a lot to us. It's "Time of your life" by Green Day. It was
the song that all the grads sang at the camp we went to in Sept.
In our school, we have A LOT of cliques, but that camp experience
helped to finally break down teh barriers, and that song still
touch our hearts. We also all gather in a circle and sang it at
our semi this yr. This song was also the song we sang at another
camp in the summertime. The dirty dancing one is also another one
that means a lot. But, Vitamin C's is timeless. I actually have
that as my ringtone right now :( It's so sad to think it's all
goin to be over...

I'm not in high school anymore, and I was never into the whole
graduation thing. But, now that I look back on it I wish I had
gotten more into it and enjoyed the whole experience. The
graduation ceremony went by so quickly, I can barely remember
walking across the stage. Congratulations to the Class of 2003!

I graduated last year and our song was "I've Had The Time Of My
Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.We had a "Great
Pretenders" (Where people dress as celebrities and lip sync songs)
and we acted out the whole ending scene from Dirty Dancing. It was

i graduated in 02.. we walked in to pomp and circumstance and
played here's to the night by eve6 and some tool song (i forgot
the name) during our senior slide show... when we stood and threw
our caps and started to walk out they played "the middle" by jimmy
eat world. that was really neato, it was just like a movie! then
the band played some other song, it was great.

Dropline's Fly Away From Here(Graduation Day) should have
definitely been on the list plus i haven't heard U2's Kite and Eve
6 keeps telling people that "here's to the night" is not a
graduation song, but i guess that if people like to think those
things, they'll keep on cranking the song up. Besides that,
