Holiday Gifts

For Around $200

Written by: Lin – Posted: Wed Dec 20th, 2006

There's about 4 or 5 days of shopping left and most of us are starting to panic about what to get. Let's face it, while getting a Hacky Sack or Rainbow Glitter Spiral Notepads might be cool as a Kiwi Prize, you really want something nice, right?

So here's a wish list of hot items for around $200 you can send your parent, or maybe your boyfriend (hey if he can't afford it, maybe this will be a hint for him to get off his lazy ass and go get a job).

Oh yeah, since I'm a boy, some of the items might be good ideas for you to get your boyfriend, if he decides to go get a job so he can get you something nice...

(for full descriptions on every item, you can see the original list posted on my blog at PopDish.com)

10. Talladega Nights DVD

Ok, so this one doesn't cost anywhere near $200, but we are starting you off easy. For $16.95, you can get this hilarious Will Ferrell movie.

a $5,000 watch, a /little/ out of my price range. YEAH RIGHT LIN.

Think: Who is your audience?

THINK ABOUT IT.

And quit advertising your blog. Nobody cares to see it.
iPod's r great!!!Ihav a silver 1 u people only hav MP3's i laugh
at u!!!!!:)
There are some nice ideas in this article.

However, most teens cannot afford these gift ideas.

Maybe next year you should do an article over great buys under
$100...?
looks cool my bf broke his so it be a nice gift
Lin, rather than just basically plugging your site, you could have
done a better job at this article.

You should know this site is mainly teenagers and young college
students. There's no way they can afford, nor appreciate some of
those items.

Les Paul* Sorry for the typos/HTML in that last one.
One more thing: Esteban makes <b>horrible</b> guitars. My friend
and I would always watch the info commercial, laughing our asses
off at him telling the world that his measley $200 guitar could
match up to a Gibson or Les Pail, which run for a good
$2,000-3,000. I spent $200 on my own guitar, personally, but I
went to a local store and got what was best in my budget. If
you're going to spend that much, make sure you're getting what
you're paying for. You don't want to end up paying for the name.
I read this and thought it said "Top 10 Gifts Under $20" ;x I'm
too broke to spend around $200 on anyone, even myself. Good times,
though?
kiddo8,
(quoted from bestbuy.com)
"1GB* internal flash memory stores up to 240 songs (128 Kbps AAC)
"

(talking about ipod shuffle)....
stop hatin everyone.
hey lets all post the same generic comment!

Rabble Rabble!
This article was stupid. The person who wrote this apparently
didn't take much time to truly research the topic of the article.
Please don't have this person write anymore articles in hopes of
trying to help people find gifts for "around" $200 that includes
the WRONG information. What a shame ...
the blazer....*shivers*.. is just......yuck.
Oh, and I have an ipod shuffle. It only holds 150 songs, not 250.
not only were the bags, watches, and that blazer ugly, but no one
has that kind of money to spend. unless you are rich and money's
not an option, or your a spoiled brat that has mommy and daddy buy
your gifts for you.
this should have been titled: "top 10 can never buy gifts for over
$200."

out of the 10 items listed, there were only 4 gifts close to or
under $200. this should never have been posted.
i thought this list was around $200. some were acceptable like
ipod and nintendo wii. but other than that, hella expensive, no
way anyone wanna buy a hella expensive messenger bag. or those
watches, over the limit people.
I got my boyfriend a music score moleskine for roughly ten dollars
and decorated to fit his personality and i think it was more of a
thoughtful gift than any of these items and WAY cheaper. Maybe
next year you should concentrate on making a list of things like
that.
remember this is the tech and science section..you'll be hard
pressed to find techie buys under 200

that blazer is shocking
would I spend over $1000 on a watch. My engagement ring didn't
even cost that much! And mine's 1/2 ct.
I wouldn't spend $358 on a blazer. Nor would I waste the money on
an iPod when I can get an MP3 player that does the exact same
thing with just as much space for a lot cheaper.
I think it's disappointing that many of the items on this list did
not actually fit the budget: the DVD is not an especially
thoughtful suggestion, because it is a common gift that most
people will have though of. And the bag, the blazer and the
watches were significantly more than $200 -- as was the phone +
service plan (not that buying someone else's service plan is a
good idea anyway)...
Couldn't you make the price range $75 at the absolute most?
The only thing that I liked on the entire list was the guys body
for number 5... oh, and the blazer is kind of cool looking too.
I love how the title is Holiday's for around $200 but the watches
are way over that. wow. nothing interested me except the wii
Nothing on my x-mas list but a Wii
nothing on this list excited me except maybe the wii.. but i dont
really want tha. And for the watches costingso much they look
really cheap..all well
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Victoria
nothing looks good to me
Gifts around $200?? This article is completely stupid and should
not have been published. I agree with carissakayb
...yeah, so, generally, "around $200" means within $50. Not
within $5000.

Just a thought.
Most of the items on the list are crap. The watches look hideous.
This article is begging for hate mail. I mean seriously. BEGGING.
Yes, this stuff is rather expensive and I'm 24, with a full time
job...Who the heck has extra money to blow on this shizz? The only
thing worth it for me on this list is the iPod Shuffle for $79!
i agree with the people that posted on this article. These items
are horrible reccomendations considering the majority of the
viewers on this website are young teenagers who cant afford them.
The only reasonable one was Talladega Nights. Also, if you want to
help people with christmas shopping, why are you doing it five
days before christmas? Everybody probably has the majority of
their shopping done anyway.
yeah this article wasn't worth it...i mean seriously how many
people have that kind of money to spend on their bf's or who ever.
i wouldn't spend that much money on anybody (mainly bc i have
other things to pay for like idk COLLEGE!)
..and i have to agree with jcsgirl..a lot of these things were no
were near the $200 price tag like the article said. about 20 for a
movie, and then over 1500 for a watch? WTF?
How is $358 and $1595 "around" $200?
Nice comment monkeyballs lol! Metrosexual? Yes. Pathetic? I think
not. Tumi makes high quality bags, this one is unisex, big enough
to carry around your laptop or books.
Am I the only person who thought Taladega Nights was just crappy?
It was not at all funny. People just like it because Will Ferrell
is in it. If he weren't in it the movie would have done horrible.
Over half the gift ideas on here are over $200. That's too much to
be spending on a boy-/girlfriend.
These are more than 200$ however the camera wii and ip0d are w0rth
their price! t00 much t0 be spending a boy/girl friend! n0 way
j0se!
most of these things are over $200...not around $200.
I agree, $200 is never okay, except total on kids from parents
maybe.
Mu husband and I got each other the Wii for Christmas, however we
opened it a while ago :-)

However I am liking those bags .. too bad no one will buy them for
me :-)
while these are definitely good presents, i think theyre still a
little too much to be spending on a boy-/girlfriend. my boyfriend
and i have been together for almost 3 years, and im still not
buying him $200 gifts!
