Asset-Based Thinking

"Asset-Based Thinking" (AbT) is a way of looking at the world in a positive light. And business and communication experts Kathryn Cramer (from The Cramer Institute) and Hank Wasiak (from The Concept Farm) have jointly created a book that aims at spreading that philosophy. Change the Way You See Everything is a book that is dedicated to teaching readers the ins and outs of AbT, and although the book is categorized as "business motivation," it is a self-help book that should be read by everyone--business career oriented or not!

Simply put, AbT is a method of looking at one's assets, rather than deficits; the positive, rather than the negative. An example that the AbT team offers in a commercial for Change the Way You See Everything is this scenario: You're walking out of a New York City train station and see a sign-"Exit to 23rd Street." Normally you would not think anything of such a sign. However, what if the sign said "Entrance to the Big Apple" instead? In this case, "Exit" would be the deficit way of thinking and "Entrance" makes the same message a positive one. Positive thought builds off of a situation or idea's assets.

Thinking about the positive rather than the negative truly would
help with confidence and society as a whole, I believe. Sounds
like a good book.
