Pan's Labyrinth

Movie Review

Though Hollywood may disagree, not all fairy tales are forged from gumdrops and smiles, skipping and singing. Barring the LOTR's and Harry Potter's of the world, most fantasy movies born out of the digital age rely far too much on graphical prowess, abandoning their stories to the point of rendering them nearly useless (see: Chronicles of Narnia, Eragon). Imagination has taken a backseat to technical innovation...or has it?

Nothing, and I mean nothing will prepare you for the visual onslaught of Pan's Labyrinth--yet the film is so much more than its CG splendor will have you believe (and believe me, you will...believe!). Director Guillermo del Toro, (in)famous for The Devil's Backbone and the unfairly written-off Hellboy, has created his most nightmarish vision thus far, leapfrogging lesser fantasy romps in terms of emotional, spiritual and political depth.

I went to see this opening night and it is definitely worth your 9
dollars. I loved the realistic gore in it too.
I can't wait for this movie to be out at the theater. Im dying to
watch it!
I am currently in film school so I was lucky enough to see this
movie a week ago. This movie was awesome, it had moments which were
incredibly frightnening, gruesome and beautiful. This movie is
probably one of the best indie movies released this year.Even
though the film is fantastical this film is essentially about
Ofelia's fascist captain stepfather and the cruelty that everyone
in the countryside suffered at the hands of them.I reccomend this
movie to people who would not mind watching a movie wirth
subtutles essentially about war.
I love Guillermo del Toro, especially The Devil's Backbone, so I
really want to see this :>
I wish it was playing in more theaters so I could see. The
closest it is to me is New York city and its not even playing at
all where i go to school near DC. Guess i'll have to wait for the
video, too bad. Seems like a movie that will be better in the
theater
this movie looks awesome, and i'm definitely gonna see it when it
comes out. i'm into all that fantasy kinda stuff so this movie is
right my up alley! :P
Im so excited to see this film
My boyfriend saw a trailer on the net for this movie and
downloaded it.. we watched it together (shhh!) and it was such a
great movie. I hadn't heard of it and wasn't even that interested
before hand.. but it sucked me in within minutes.. so interesting
and original.. it's a really good one, I definitely recommend it.

(NOT so good for the kids, though!)
I can't wait to see this film.
ohh sounds like my kind of movie! Cant wait till it comes out!
Well, I hadn't read the article yet. They show it on the third
page with his hands up... :( Sorry.
I saw a review (Ropert and Egert or whoever they are) on TV and I
WANT TO SEE THIS SO BADLY! It's been out since the end of
December, but it's not playing even within 100 miles of where I'm
at--at least not that I can find! So I'm just gonna have to wait
until it comes out on DVD and then snatch it up! I'm already
planning on buying it anyway!
They showed a clip on the TV review, and this dude on the poster
isn't really THAT freaky... I mean, he really is, but in a cool
way that you can get over. They showed how he puts his hands, both
with an eyeball, up to where the eyes are on our heads, and it
looked REALLY cool!
This is just the type of movie I love--a lot of everything!
It definitely sounds interesting. Okay that doesn't exactly sum it
up well enough....it looks incredibly intriguing. I've always
favoured movies that did not follow the traditional, and this
definitely looks like it doesn't.
the last picture is gonna haunt me forever....
the picture alone creeps me out lol
