DeerhoofFriend Opportunity

Deerhoof, after a decade of hot-wiring pop and polarization have come into full bloom, exploding pollen dust over their avant-poppiness. If their last record, The Runners Four was a marathon of the senses, Friend Opportunity is the cool-down, trimming its predecessor's length while bulking up on the lullabies. They have perfected their zigzagging, genre sock-hopping approach, coronating themselves as kindred spirits to oddball Tropicalia act Os Mutantes. They've never sounded so fun and free-spirited.
The one ex-factor to Deerhoof's music has always been singer Satomi Matsuzaki, who chirps, coos and yelps like a schoolgirl with boundless imagination. This time around her scatty/bratty sing-song style has become more palatable, brimming with youthful exuberance.
