The premise of Alpha Dog is one heard about all too often in American cinema. A crew of drug dealers (lead by the talented Emile Hirsch) decide to take matters into their own hands when Jake Mazursky (Ben Foster) fails to pay them on time. This leads to the impromptu kidnapping of Jake's younger brother Zach and a time no one will forget.
The fact that Alpha Dog is based on the true story of Hollywood Jesse James and his gang of hooligans makes the rather abrupt ending slightly more disturbing. It's very unsettling to watch considering the chain of events that unfold during the movie's two hour runtime.
