Norah Jones
Not Too Late

When you first turn on Norah Jones' new album, Not Too Late, you may feel the urge to press buttons or stand awkwardly with your arms by your side. You mustn't, however, be fooled by the "Muzak" quality of the album; chances are, you're not in an elevator.

Truth be told, there is nothing offensive or bad about Not Too Late. Norah Jones' familiar gentle voice comes close to entertaining in her soothing third collection of songs. Clearly a talented young woman, Norah takes a good stab at making something worth listening to--but alas, fails to truly captivate.

The passages of calming ambience and folksy rhythms throughout Not Too Late are reminiscent of the female vocals on a Damien Rice track. Sadly, Jones' voice lacks the depth and emotion of Lisa Hannigan's, and her singing ends up sounding like dull back-up to the piano tracks that are incapable of holding their own.

"who the hell is lisa hannigan, and why should we care? give me a
break."
-Probably the Goddess with a fragile voice that could devour every
man's apathy and lead it towards the light we call Passion.

"Norah Jones is awesome, but her stuff is a bit too complex for
some. Apparently you just don't get her."
-Dude he listens to damien rice's music, u don't know how deep and
passionate Rice's album "O" is!

I'm a fan of Norah, bought every album even listen to her former
electronica band. "Dont know why i didn't come","What am I to You?
tell me darling true","Come away With me" please her lyrics aren't
that puzzling to be called complex. Do yourself a favor (Mr.who da
hell is Lisa!)search"Damien Rice I Remember" on youtube.com or Buy
his album "O" for a start after that you should realize what the
word "complex" really is? noob! listeners!
Norah Jones is brilliant. So what if she doesn't sing about
SexyBack or doesn't use profanity?
The fact that she isn't trying to "sexify" her sound or looks is
exactly why people still listen to her. Listen to the lyrics, they
come from the heart. And ever heard of a metaphor? They're not
wacky lyrics, it's hidden meaning! This is the music people like
to hear in coffee shops, supermarkets, hotels, and so on. Ever
heard precious Nellie McKay, Metal or Rap songs in any of these
venues? No, because people have more taste.

No offense, but I'd like to see another review for this album.
Hopefully from somebody with an open mind.
forget about the slow jazzy music and focus on the lyrics..thats
why i like Norah's music..
I think Norah Jones seems like a nice person but I couldn't agree
more with the author (CarolynLuzBoiz? LOL!). Her albums are
SLEEPY.

Just because the author didn't like the album doesn't mean she
doesn't 'give a ****' about music!

and no one cares about Nellie McKay--she's just some tart from
college radio.
Next time, Kiwibox, get someone who gives a shit about music to
review it.
