What are you waking up to on Wednesday? Flowers? Chocolates? A teddy bear? Yourself? While one may be tagged as the loneliest number, Kiwis don't think so - two-thirds of them don't regularly have Valentines, and they say they don't feel pressured to either.

The unattached are keeping busy with schoolwork, their jobs and other activities.

"The drama department does singing telegrams on Valentine's Day as a fundraiser, so I'll be singing "Build me up Buttercup" all day," said Emi, 16.

Others are choosing to mark the day but celebrating their single status.

"Me and some friends are going to have a little group party and we're going to give each other little Valentine's Day party favors," said Lena, 18.

Friend Note

Me and my boyfriend have spent 3 Valetines Day's together and
never once bought each other anything or wished each other a happy
day. It's just another moronic holiday for flower shops and
Hallmark. Did any events in history happen this day? Not that we
know of! So why celebrate your love for someone on just one day,
when they should know you love them all 365 days of the year!

You can view V-day however you like but I personaly see it as a
day to express your love to loved ones no matter if it' your
significant other, friend, or family. I think it's so cute when a
father takes his daughter out or when the family gets involved so
no one feels left out.

Well, this Valentine's was extra special for me cause my guy told
me for the first time that he loves me. It was a magnificent
feeling. Simple, sweet and just magnificent.

Anyway, Valentines Day is just a day for you to celebrate love
with people you love. Anyone really.

I actually spent my valentines day in a hospital bed but i did get
flowers so and cards so even though i was sick it wasn't that bad

yea, it's alright if ur busy. but when you've go nothin to do, all
u can do is mull over how happy everyone else seems; besides
valentine's day is just another day--only to make u feel even
worse of better, depending...

Like Virginia, my father buys me a Valentine's Day gift every
year. Unfortunately, he has been my only Valentine. Being single
has its perks, but there is nothing like receiving flowers and
candy from a special someone.

I agree with blondie565. You dont have to have a special someone
to spend the day with, you can go out with your friends. I don't
get why every one is always so down on this day, it's just another
day with a name to it. So suck it up and stop being so down, being
single has nothing to do with it.

I think it's nice, that 1 day out of the year a day is dedicated
to celebrating ur love 4 one another, if u don't do it everyday
like ur suppose to, it's a day to make u do something!

Like i've stated before i dont think that valentines day should be
celebrated with just a boyfriend or a girlfriend, but with your
friends. so quit whinnin about not having a b/f or g/f and
celebrate with friends!!

My dad always got me a stuffed animal, & chocolate the morning of
Valentines day...When its on a weekday, I would wake up to a
stuffed animal on the couch, holding a box of chocolate (& a card)

i dono but i know that most guys have no clue how 2 treat a girl
from tha start and meet all their needs for comfort and emotinal
support but peace i just had 2 get that out but i love makin a

I sent myself roses one year that I didnt have a valentine. I
ordered a dozen pinks one and when they sent them to me at school
I gave 11 out to my closest friends and kept one for myself. Later
that night me and 3 of my best friends stayed all night at my
house and talked the night away about the highs of not having a
boyfriend and how girlfriends were so much better. It was much
better than dinner and a movie with any guy.

my bf waisted all of hi s$ on video games & then broke my heart
about a ring I loved... usually my mom gets me & her chocolate &
stuffed animals since it is just us but this year she is tight on
money so that aint happening either... ooo well...

I think valentines is a nice day for lovers to celebrate their
relationship.
but as for me, i'm spending it with my bestfriend. single hot
girls should stick together. go out, enjoy themselves. Don't let
