This year's Super Bowl was not simply a showdown of two great teams. It was a milestone, long overdue for African American coaches, sports fans, and culture across America. For the first time in NFL history, both head coaches of the Super Bowl teams were African American, and in light of February Black History Month, it seems only appropriate we should acknowledge this great feat.
Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis Colts, and Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears have been mentioned time and time again in articles and newscasts leading up to the big game. Both coaches, who are also long time friends, understand the step forward this means for their heritage and are proud to be apart of something great.

anymore i don't think it isn't quite right to be labeling all of
these people African American. They are labeling themselves now a
days. No one calls the people from Italy of Mexico Italian
Americans or Mexican Americans... how come one race gets a label
and the rest are just American? I personally think the label
should leave, because we are all Americans and have an equal
chance of anything, i know some people might disagree, but I just
wanted to add this in anyways.
