Surviving vacation with a significant other

My boyfriend and I had only been together about eight months when he popped the question. No, not the question. "Want to go on vacation this summer?" To say I wasn't prepared for that was an understatement. Dating was one thing, but vacation? That sounded like a trial honeymoon to me.

Luckily, though, I bit the bullet and went for it - and the experience brought us closer together. So far, I've braved Atlantic City, Vermont, the Outer Banks, Connecticut and Louisville with my sweetie - and we're planning to head to Myrtle Beach for Spring Break. How did we do it? Love, patience, and some great advice:

Be prepared to show off your worst. You might look awesome every time you meet them for a date, but would you be comfortable having them see you with your rolled out of bed look? The just-rolled-out-of-bed look may seem sexy in the movies, but it's not reality. Be ready to show off your bed-head, morning breath, raccoon-eyed self.

Great advice.

I took a trip with my boyfriend of 4 years to Virginia. We had a
blast and it was really great spending the time with him. I think
the trip made me realize how much I love being with him. It
really opened up our relationship for the better.
Great article! These are good advice indeed.
very good article.
In about a month and half my boyfriend and I are going on our
first vacation together to Puerto Vallarta. Although I'm way
excited, I like these tips. Especially the "doing your own
activity" one, since I'm definitely someone who needs my space
after a while.
anyway, nice work. :)
my fiance and I have been together 3 years now and have had...many
vacations. It was hard at first (considering he was always on
deployment) but now that he's home recruiting it's much easier! We
strated out with short vacations (1-2days) and moved our way up to
longer ones! lol :)
Great article. My boyfriend and I had been together for about 5
months when we decided to move across the country together. Yep,
we were crazy! We had spent a lot of time together and some days
it felt like we lived together, but we were still in that
honeymoon phase when you don't really notice your SOs flaws.

The first day of driving was great. He'd never been so far west
and I was enjoying the scenery again. Plus, we were together and
it was exciting to know that we were starting a new life
together.

By the second day I think we both realized how annoying the other
person could be! I hated his music, he didn't take enough breaks
when driving, and he was cheap in regards to motels and
restaurants. And I'm sure he had a whole list of complaints about
me.

It was really a relief when we finally reached our destination,
found a home, and started doing our own things again. Yep, we
still had together time, but those many, many days on the road
together was a little overwhelming.
very cute article :)
Cool article Kate! My boyfriend and I haven't taken a vacation
together yet,but I'm sure it wont be as nerve wracking as I think
it will be.
