Life in Cartoon Motion

The United Kingdom churns out colorful sunshine-pop characters faster than you can say "LilyAllenAmyWinehouse." But with all the females doing their brattiest, where do the guys stand? Mika, sunshine-pop auteur and creator of all things sickly-sweet, is here to represent the fellas with lollipops and good vibes...?

The very antithesis of Mike Skinner's (The Streets) sour narratives, Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion a two-ton Turkish Delight wrapped up in Mika's piercing falsetto. If the Scissor Sisters traded in their leather pants and boas for bell-bottoms and rainbow suspenders they would sound like this.

Supporting his Scissor fetish is Life in Cartoon Motion's finest track, "Big Girls (You Are Beautiful)." It's the best song Jake Shears never wrote. When Mika tones down his "character" he truly shines, hop-scotching around the glam-rock tune with dexterity. The same goes for the low-limbo groove of "Relax, Take It Easy" and the quasi-serious "My Interpretation."

love most of these songs. They are feel good songs.
my favorite song is "Billy Brown"
Mika is just pure fun
I totally agree with that review. Mika has a really good voice and
I fell in love with Grace Kelly and Lollipop on the first times I
heard them!! I totally recommend this to anyone with a good music
taste!
i love the album cover :) makes for a great cover bubble!!!
All I'm saying is to approach this album with caution - it's very,
VERY over-the-top, and it can grate to those who want a little
more variety in their vocals (read: every line doesn't have to be
sung in the highest falsetto known to man). IMHO when it's good
it's light and fun; when it's bad it's...

It's sticky sweet, but if you like it go for it!

Thanks for reading!

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say in this review.
Huh?

I fell in love with Mika the first time I heard 'Grace Kelly.' So
it's very Freddie Mercury and it's "cheesy Europop" as Perez
Hilton likes to call it, but what's wrong with that? 'Love Today'
makes me want to get up and dance crazy. The entire album is
unexpected, unique and fun and I love it!

P.S. Listen to his version of Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' -- Mika's
falsetto at its finest!
