Review of Tragic Kingdom

No one can deny Gwen Stefani's talent. Not only has she released two solo albums and many singles with numerous artists, but her ska punk band No Doubt has released 5 albums and 3 compilations. No Doubt's third album, Tragic Kingdom (released in 1995), marked the beginning of their success as a group and is definitely worth remembering.

The album mainly contained songs about the relationship between Gwen Stefani and her bassist Tony Kanal. Five singles out of a total of 14 tracks were released from this album alone. According to Wikipedia, the album topped the U.S. Billboard 200 for nine weeks and was nominated for Best Rock Album and Best New Artist at the 1997 Grammy Awards. It sold almost 15 million copies world wide, and in 2003, the album was ranked number 441 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

This album has a different feel than most songs of the decade and each song has a different rhythm and sound than the others. It has a fun and original feel to it, and coupled with Stefani's rocking vocals, the album was destined to be a success. It's much different than most of the albums being released now, all of which seem to sound the same with slight word variations.
