I use Proactiv and it worked well for me! I could already see
results a couple days after using it twice daily! The facial mask
is excellent too. I'd recommend it for anyone.
I tried clearasil... it burned my skin like heck. (I have
sensitive skin)
i wash my face with a neutrogena cleanser, which i love and would
recommend to anyone. but for the rare occasion that a zit does
end up popping through, i put a clearasil cream on it that has the
highest percentage of benzoyl peroxide in it that you can get over
the counter. once in the morning, once midday, once before bed,
just a little dab, and it's gone before i know it
Yes m'am. I still do it while doing MK :-)
Susan, don't tell me you did this during your days of Mary Kay!
This the best article i read yet
I ALWAYS put toothpaste on a pimple when I'm out of cream, and I
think it works wonderfully. lol - I've never had a problem with it
burning.

I use Visine too, and maybe when I'm 60 I'll regret it, but for
now - I'll continue using it if it's around.
What should I say?

One thing you really hit hard on, which I completely agree with,
is not sharing makeup. Makeup not only transfers your friends'
oils from their faces onto yours, but it also is a prime way to
spread nasty infections, particularly with eye makeup, with woes
like pink eye. It's really gross. And sharing lip makeup is a very
gross no-go as well, because then you're sharing saliva as well,
which can spread infections rampantly. Another thing that can be
spread with lip makeup too is the herpes simplex virus-- in other
words, once you get cold sores, you have to deal with them, over,
and over, and over, for the rest of your life. Trust me, don't
share makeup if you never want cold sores. I've dealt with cold
sores my entire life (in my case it's hereditary but I never share
my makeup and I don't kiss my hun when I get cold sores), and they
suck. Majorly.

Also, in pertaining to the yogurt, I feel weird putting yogurt on
my face. lol. Instead, I try to find skincare products with
nutrients in them. I know that most, if not all, of the face
skincare products in the Avon Solutions line have vitamins in
them. And I use them. They're good products.

Yikes! I remember when I tried the toothpaste thing when I was
obviously much younger. All it did was irritate my skin.
Toothpaste is called toothpaste for a reason. lol Usually, unless
it's a drying mask that happens to have alcohol in it (and that
doesn't even hurt), nothing should have that stinging sensation to
it. If it really stings, then your skin is trying to tell you
something. It's saying "arggghhhh don't do that!!!"

In pertaining to scrubs, they're okay. But I do not think that
many people know how to use them properly. I do think that many
people either use a scrub too heavy for their sensitive skin, or
they use it too often, and many people really do forget to
moisturize when they're done!! I think the latter is one of the
biggest flaws in taking care of ones skin. I'll get to that later.
But anyhow, people forget, that scrubs are scrubs, they're not
supposed to be used like the 60-grit sandpaper you'd use to sand
your latest project in Dad's garage. Your skin is not wood, so you
should treat it much more gently. Also, I think some people use
certain products too often for their own skins' taking.
Astringents, scrubs, drying refining masks, pumice stones,
exfolients, and even some of the basic things that have salicyclic
and glycolic acids in them. If your skin gets irritated after you
use it, then either cut down on how many times a week you use it,
or don't use it. For instance, let's talk about this skin refining
mask I have. It has alcohol in it, and the two acids I mentioned
prior, in addition to a lot of other extracts in it. Because the
alcohol can irritate the skin with too much use, it says on the
tube to use only about 3 times a week. Less if your skin gets
irritated. Sometimes I think as people, we just forget to leave
things alone. If something doesn't work, the first thing we think
to do is to put more junk on it, even when our skin says "Enough,
no more!" And, even if we're not piling too much product on our
faces, there's also the problem of people who won't leave their
acne alone. Ever seen someone pick at acne, pop pimples? That
makes it all the worse. It might even make a scar if it gets bad
enough. I know it's hard for some people, but try to leave the
acne alone so it can get a start on healing.

1. cleanse
2. tone
3. treat (when necessary)

What's missing?

4. MOISTURIZE

As I mentioned before, many people forget the last step of the
process of skin care. You just eradicated the dirt and oils off
your face with the first three steps, aren't you going to give
your skin a reason to get rid of an excuse to make more oils? When
you strip your skin of oils and don't moisturize, your skin's oil
production goes into overdrive. It's like, "oh no, no moisture!!!
Cue extra oil production!!" Before you know it, your skin just
heaped out a bunch of oil through your pores onto your face, and
you're back at square one when the acne starts up from all the oil
clogging your pores and making them angry. So moisturize with an
oil-free moisturizer. It helps a lot. Also, for better results,
also moisturize your face before you put on makeup. The
moisturizer will nourish your skin, and act as a barrier to keep
your makeup from getting stuck in your pores. It'll also make your
makeup go on smoother.

Also, for help on trying to get rid of the woes of acne, and the
proper skin care isn't working like it should, you may want to
drink more water, like sex_and_pearls said, and if it's hormonally
related (horrible monthly breakouts) then you may want to talk to
your doctor about getting on the pill. Since I've been on it, I've
had zero breakouts. Maybe the occasional blemish from when I'm
stupid and do things like the time last month when I hit and
chaffed/cut my nose on the edge of a folding table (don't ask, I
know, I'm stupid and have no coordination whatsoever. lol), but
that's about it.

Ever since then, the only thing that's gotten to me skin-wise was
my large crater-sized pores on my T-zone (particularly my nose
though). I've learned that since I became an Avon rep though, that
Avon's True Pore-Fection products work extremely well to shrink my
pores and put the oil production at bay.
oh wow,way to give false information about scrubs...in a way you
are right, there are some harsh scrubs out there you should stay
away from like the original st. ives,bc it has uneven apricot
seeds in them, which can cause the tearing and irritation of the
skin, but aveeno, prescriptives and lancome make GREAT ones that
have even, round exfoliators. IF YOU DON'T EXFOLIATE YOUR
SKIN,YOU'RE NOT CLEANING IT PROPERLY! Only exfoliate ONCE a
week!!!
I like the section on toothpaste - "But I’ve tried it, and it
burns!"

lol
Goog artical. You hit some very good points in which lots of
kids(girls more) are confused about. Me myself have questions
about what face scrubs to use since there are so many of them out
there. Most teens have acne(pimples) around the middle of your eye
brows. you touch your face the most there. Also the chin is a bad
place to touch, acne there can make you look like you have a
double chin.
good article... if somone has serious acne they usually have to go
to a dermatologist or it wont go away. a problem with a beaty bar
is it's hard to get off the germs. supposedly if it's discolored
or cracked it has lots of germs and u need to get rid of it.
I think that you missed some pretty important things in this
article. Drinking alot of water (try 8 glasses of water a day)
helps clear up skin, also using cole cream though it might take
longer. I have really sensitive skin, and I can't use alot of
things or else it makes my skin break out in rashes. I touch my
hair, and my pimples still go away, since I've been drinking alot
of water and washing my face with cole cream, I have only got like
2 pimples... I think.
