Year of the Goddess

Prom 2007

Why be a prom queen when you can be a goddess? You don't go to school looking like every other girl, so why should your prom dress get lost in the crowd? Prom is the perfect excuse to be as ostentatious as you want without any repercussions- and lucky for you, I've scoured New York City's fashion district on foot in search of the most unique and fabulous new gowns for Prom 2007.

Inspired by ancient goddesses, mystical mermaids and New York City's most vibrant color pallets, I found the most decadent and uninhibited dress designers with amazing gowns deserving of your big night. My picks are all about shine, sparkle, exotic shapes and lush colors. With a talented staff of hair and makeup artists, photographers and 6 fierce models, Kiwibox invaded a luxury Chelsea apartment complex and the famous W Hotel for our most stunning and extravagant prom photo shoot yet.

I love all three dressed in the top picture on this page! The
low-cut top of the one of the right is perfect - not too much, but
just enough to be sexy.
I liked the one on page 7.
i liked the 3rd page.. verrry expensive but cute
These are all really nice dressed. The one on page 8, The Silk
Beaded Bright Blue Dress is one of my favorites.
i liked page 5 the best.

the dress on page 7 is cut WAY too high for my comfort lol
I love the goddess gown scheme. The Greek inspired ones are my
favorites!
I like the pink dress on 3 but damn $398!! I got the BEST dress
ever for my prom. My Grandma made it and I got to HAND pick
everything.
Ya know, I log onto kiwibox almost every day, and I don't remember
seeing this article. Some really cute dresses here, I especially
like the copper one on page 4.
It's fun looking back at old trends. Granted these aren't really
that dated, but if you follow fashion then you'd be able to pick
up, some-what, on the year the dress came from.
After seeing 2008 its hard to say which photoshoot came with the
better pictures!
foxlet, I agree. Many of the pictures are REALLY underexposed (not
enough light), which also does not show the true colors of these
dresses. And, we all can tell that the guy was calling the
photography shots OF COURSE! A girl with a brain (unless they were
bi or lesbian) wouldn't be calling shots of girls laying sexually
on pool tables and having shots down the models tops. It's just so
degrading!

Dear Photographer: Get real, this is a site full of teen girls,
not boys.

-Anna

P.s. LEARN PHOTOSHOP! It helps.
The photos bug me. A lot. There's not enough light in some of the
shots, and some of the photos are very poorly cropped, so the
model looks lost amid the beige background. Also, there were no
standing shots of some of the dresses, so you couldn't see the hem
properly. Oh, and the photographer apparently couldn't be bothered
to bend his knees if the model was sitting down, so you get that
oh-so-wonderful looking-down-her-top shot, with the added bonus of
making the model look like she has a gigantic head.

The dresses themselves are pretty, though, and I rather like the
text.
The Charlize theron dress you can get it way cheeper at windsor's
is in white and other colors. I was going to buy it but they
didn't want to buy it for me! :[
they look fake and very stiff no offence but especially the one in
the red she need to losen u a little
I do like the dresses and the article was written well. But like
the majority of the users, I have a problem with the poses and the
models. Way too friggin' skinny. How they're even able to move is
beyond me.
all the dresses are beautiful i love them they can give me some
tips
well they are beautiful dresses but the background is tooo plane
it needs some more colors and moer stuff but it looks beautiful
I'm loving 4, 6 and 11...

I agree with the other comments about the unprofessional pics, but
never mind.
Well I guess everybody has a different sense of style. But I
really liked these gorgeous dresses, especially pages 12, 2, and
6. The black dress was also quite daring. Thanks!
I like the bright pink one a little better then the rest of them.
but I like the blue one too.
Beautiful dresses, I mostly like the light bluish one.
besides the ugly girls & the horrible way the piks were taken,
dressed 9 & 13 were kinda sexyy.
LOVE IT
love it
that is very beutiful and sexy
i would to have one of these dresses

The blue one on the second page looks like a mermaid!
i would love to see my girlfriend in one of those dresses!!
I meant *is FIAH...or 'fire.' You get it!
The pink dress if FIAH! Hahaha great picks.
This is getting me really excited for prom! The royal blue dress
is gorgeous and the pink and gold one looks really flattering

nice choices!

I really love the red and black dresses! Great job picking them
out!

Also, I'm printing out one of these pictures to show when I get my
hair done! Love it!
first off i have to say i love that light blue dress. this article
only shows long dresses what about shorter length dresses for
those short people. they were all very similar in style i would
have prefered to see a variety of styles like long, short,
strapless, straps, knee length etc etc... you get the idea...
I'm really into fashion design and these dresses are well made.
The bright blue and pink are my favorite. it reminds me of project
runway but more finished.
there r so pretty dresses in the srticle, but the only thing that
makes the picture r the people...
i personally think that all of these dresses ugly and not worth
the price they have listed for them. Also the dresses would not be
able to fit someone thats big. The whole world isnt a size 5.
Where are the size 16 dresses????
wow. SO there are some pretty dresses in the article.
Unfortunately the photography had no idea how to pose models or
make use of a background in 9/10 of the shots. Did anybody else
notice there was a lot of Jovani dresses? Kiwibox- how about some
variety???
not to be a total loser but ...i dont really like any of those
dresses... Plus...an article like this should have been spread
among the "bigger" people to and none of these dresses would work
The dresses are divers, for everygirl there is something she likes
wheter it's sexy mature and strong or girly and so on.
I didn't like the photography on this issue, sometimes it's too
dark, too much shadow or the pose doesn't show you the way the
dress "falls" on the body.

the lighter turquoise dress is absolutely gorgeous. i love it! its
a little out of my price range, but if i wanted to splurge, that
would be my pic for sure. and as for overall, the models are
hideous and some of the poses are a little awkward.
The white dress was pretty, but why wasn't the model posing nicely
to show off the dress instead of laying splayed out on the floor?
The dresses were good - some a little too revealing for prom i
think, but what do i know - but the photographer didnt frame most
of the photos as they should have been to highlight the dresses.
Great dresses! Nice job putting together a group of unique
designs and bold colors. Most of the dresses really pop and will
easily add extra sparkle to anyone's prom night. Wish there were
more to look at. I have to go shopping now! Thanks for the great
ideas.
The dresses are bout 50/50 half of them are realy nice and the
others are less to be dessired but not ugly. The thing that I was
disapointed about was how sexed up some of the poses are (black
dress girl laid out on pool table.). Its realy not needed and
something kiwibox shouldnt promote. Though the makeup on the girls
was absolutly beautiful, great job Lauralee Davis & Joanna H Clay.

I do wish u would reach out to the larger size of the average
girl as well. They have the hardest time finding where to get nice
dresses & an issue for them would be great and actually needed.
this is just disturbing...the photographer, the models, the
dresses...everything. disturbing...kiwibox can do A LOT
better...come on now...
1) the dresses are OKAY..the light pink one was not flattering at
all, and the peach with the gold over it has unnecessary seams.

2) the photography SUCKED.

3) the models were too thin...it made it difficult for the dresses
to accentuate certain body features...because they had none. they
look unhealthy.

to the woman who got upset about people making assumptions about
the models having eating disorders - no one was assuming...what
WAS said was that they LOOK like they have eating disorders, and
very few people are actually that skinny. it is portraying that
there is an ideal body size, and that they only way to look decent
in dresses like the ones shown is to be that actual size. no one
was criticizing you. grow up.
The dresses are impressive but Kewe_Flower is correct, this is
ridiculously jevunile and inconsistent photography.
WOW!I am not old enough to go to prom yet and haven't been asked
but let me tell you I can wait until I go to prom. Those dresses
are so beautiful and I hope they have fun a wonderful point in
there life.
so I know the whole world isnt this small and I am not saying that
they couldnt have used larger models....BUT, I really hate
everyone assuming these girls have eating disorders. I am 20 yrs
old and 100lbs, but I have NEVER had an eating disorder. Please
stop critisizing the girls for simply doing their job.
yeah, these dresses are nice. You know what's not nice: the
terribly inconsistant photography of them!
There is a director and there the the photographer, neither one of
them are doing their VERY simple jobs. which is to focus on the
asthetics of these garmets, meaning making them look to the best
of their potential.
The lighting is diffrent in every shot, unflattering direct
flash?! bounce it off of something PLEASE.
Anyways, i guess the underschooled can't know all the conventions.
I like some of these dresses, especially the one on page 6(lovely
colour!). People should stop critisizing the models. Lots of
people are naturally thin.
damn i love dat blue dress but it would look betta on me!
i loooove that dark pink&gold dressss=]~ im a junior but im going
to prom this yr because this kid asked me to. but idk what i
should wear. so many varietiess, so little timee. lolol.
omg, seriously CJs_thugmisses. you could've typed all of that in
half the time if you just used normal letters. it's not like
pressing shift every other key to make those characters is a
shortcut or anything. so what's the point?

sorry. had to get that out.
I didn't like any of those dresses. And those girls were posing
weird.
