Chivalry, some might suggest, is dead. As a guy, I tend to agree. It's rare to see a young man opening doors, pulling out chairs and excusing himself after passing gas. Okay, so maybe we try to do the last one once in a while, but there's no denying that most men are unwilling to stage a return to the dating days of yore. Why is this? Like society, chivalry has evolved. Dated rituals have turned to practices modern and applicable to gender roles as they stand today. Chivalry, as we once knew it, seems passe in a country that celebrates equal rights for men and women. As I pondered the subject, I found myself confronted with an inconsistency. It was my male understanding that women were on the prowl for prince charming and yet so few of them are looking to have their doors opened for their dinners paid for. In an attempt to understand the disparity, I began to conduct some research on the subject.

we had a "Chivalry Week." During this week, the guys acted
chivalrous to the girls and we wrote about what they did on little
blue pieces of paper. The guy who got the most papers won. But I
forgot what he won. It was a nice week, although some guys got
pretty competitive....lol
