Being a small-town gal and from a community that has barely 6,000 people, it is not only hard for me to keep myself entertained, but also very difficult to uphold a fashionista image and keep up with the latest styles. However, I've learned that living near the Mall of America is not always necessary in order to maintain an up-to-date wardrobe. Girls or guys-- all you need is some creativity and imagination!Second-Hand Stores
Almost every urban area has a thrift or second-hand store. I know what most of you are thinking; ew, you wouldn't be caught dead there, but don't underestimate the power of second-hand shopping! Yes, the clothes may have been worn before and they might be a little smelly when purchased, but who doesn't own a washing machine? The beauty of second-hand shopping is that practically everything is priced under $20.00 and no one else will have anything similar! Think of it as vintage shopping! I know one of my biggest pet peeves about shopping at an Abercrombie & Fitch or Urban Outfitters is that someone is bound to have the same top or pair of jeans.

The great thing about second-hand stores is what you purchase is original and not overpriced. While second-hand and thrift shops and fairly large and clothes are often heaped and piled everywhere, it's good to visit one when you've lots of time to spare. Go through all the racks and don't skip anything. The potato sack on the hanger might just drape your body nicer than a $70.00 empire-waist tunic from Bebe.

doubt anyone would do that.
