Imagine taking a job in which you could make a difference in people's lives everyday. Imagine that people would look to you for support and guidance. Imagine that you could help bring people out of poverty and give them a better life.Teach for America is empowering young people to do just that.
Teach for America views the education gap as one of the country's biggest problems and seeks to rectify it. According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, 9-year-olds in low income areas are, on average, three grade levels behind their peers in higher income areas and are only half as likely to graduate high school.
Lying tangent to this is the racial divide in education which indicates, and is supported by research from The National Center for Children in Poverty that African, Latino and Hispanic children are three times more likely to grow up in poverty.
