Vacation Destinations

some great cities you can travel to this summer

With the days of summer upon us, many people feel the itch to escape their suburban and metropolitan residences and explore somewhere new. While thoughts may rush to the more popular destinations like Orlando and Los Angeles there are a world of other options out there. Having traveled to 48 of the 50 states, there's an endless number of places to go this summer to have a great time and keep expenses low. My idea of a perfect vacation is one where I can relax, go for a bit of sightseeing, lie down on a beach with none of the hustle and bustle of crazy college kids gearing up for a Girls Gone Wild Video . If a culturally enriching, peaceful but still fun vacation sounds appealing, check out these lesser known vacation destinations.

San Francisco, California

When California comes to mind the image of the Hollywood sign, movie stars and Rodeo drive closely follow but for those in the know San Francisco offers some lures of its own. The weather in San Fran is preferable to boiling summer heat of Los Angeles, making this urban exploration considerably less sweaty. Start out by going to Fisherman's Wharf, the home to some of the best seafood well, ever and check out the sea lions hanging out on the coast.

After some lunch, take a tour of Alcatraz Island, the most iconic prisons in American history. There are guided tours and self guided tours, I'd recommend self guided so you can go at your own pace. Once you're done there, the Japanese Gardens offers a wonderful look into the culture. Your server is a Geisha, who will offer you Jasmine tea and other delicacies.

Of course the best part is seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. It really is much better to see this site in person. The lead in to Full House does not do the bridge justice so check it out after trekking the streets for a day of shopping or at the beach.

Niagara Falls is beautiful. The Independence Day fireworks are
really something to see. Definitely recommended!!!
Maine and Jersey sound like a lot of fun! However, Hilton Head is
a really popular destination fro southwest Ohioans. Every break,
half the school goes to Hilton Head, the other half goes to
Destin, Florida.
