Sanjaya Malakar is one of the most famous American Idol contestants in the show's history, but funnily enough, it's not for his amazing vocal abilities. Sanjaya is actually known for how untalented he is, and the fact that he progressed so far: he made it to the top 7 before being eliminated. He's also famous for his ridiculous hairstyles - from that crazy fauxhawk to a slicked-back 'do. In fact, KFC had offered him a lifetime supply of their "Famous Bowls" and a charitable donation in his name if he had worn a bowlcut on the show! Sanjaya never responded to the offer though. So who is this 17-year-old who's creating such a buzz? Sanjaya actually comes from a very musical family; his father is a classical Indian musician and his older sister, Shyamali, is a singer as well. They auditioned for American Idol together and though they both made it to the first Hollywood round, Shyamali was eliminated at the end. Sanjaya, however, got more and more popular as he progressed; he actually dropped out of high school to compete on Idol and pursue a music career.

encourages all the other bad people that being talentless is a
talent.i get that hes 17 and he was being really bold for going on
there, but how can you be that oblivious to think that the reason
you are progressing in the show is because you deserve it more and
are better than other people when the truth is he shouldnt have
made it past the second round. (he really wasnt that bad during
his audition)
