Is everybody paying attention? Because there's a new kid on the block.
And his name is Shia LaBeouf.
The guy with the funny name may be most notably recognized from his 66 episode run on The Disney Channel's Even Stevens, but LaBeouf has flexed his acting muscles in the past in films like Holes and, more recently, Bobby. This weekend, his new thriller Disturbia opened at number one at the box office, and if there was one thing that propelled the film to the top of the heap it was undoubtedly LaBeouf's spot-on portrayal of a troubled, highly-observant teen.

Disturbia plays out much like the Hitchcock classic, Rear Window. Or so you'd think. But assuming this is a blatant rip-off is denying the writers and actors of the credit they very much deserve.
LaBeouf is Kale Brecht, a withdrawn, troubled teenager who, after his father's death, begins to act out leading to a depressive stint of house arrest. During his long days at home, he begins to "observe" the actions of his neighbors; namely, Ashley (Sarah Roemer) a pretty girl sunbathing in her yard...and a man next door with a penchant for killing innocent women.
