Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

High School Sweethearts that survived college

High school is quickly coming to an end, and with the end of school, comes the beginning of a new life. There will be new experiences, new people, and new challenges to overcome but does that mean a person can't continue to maintain elements of their life before college? Does that mean a person must abandon their current relationship and begin the quest for a new, more convenient one?

Absolutely not. While it's difficult to imagine spending the majority of your relationship physically separated from your better half, it is possible. The only exception to this is when one or both people in a relationship adopt the attitude that the relationship is doomed. Once the faith in the couple or the partner falters, it's tricky to regain.

my boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 1/2 years now (started
in sophomore year) and now he is in the army. It's tough, but I
know what he's doing is great and I'll always be here waiting for
him.

truly in love with each other. While im still in highschool. he is
going off to college. just over to the next town but still he's
taken quite a few classes. that take up his time. i happy and
proud of him that he is going off to college and not staying at
home like most of my friends boyfriends doo . he's a good boy. and
i love im with ll my heart. but i miss him soo much when he is
gone. i want to just call him all the time when im at home. but i
know he is busy with old friends. i mean he spends everyday that
he can with me. but i still miss him like soo much. im soo
confused.=] i know we arent going to break up . but i still need
to know what to do in order not to let that happen. any help .

I HAVE BEEN IN A RELATIONSHIP FOR 2 YEARS
YES I HEAR YOU AND THAT TRUE TO OKAY.AND I YOU BE GOOD TO
I agree 100% with this article. If you truely love someone,
nothing can keep you two apart, not even distance. But I believe
the saying is actually "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." But
I suppose they altered that quote for the article.

My friend & her husband have been married now for 8 years & they
started out as high school sweethearts & dated through college,
even though my friend's school was 8 hours away. They made it work
because they wanted it to work & they were in love with each other
& still are to this day.

So to anyone who doesn't believe that long-distance relationships
work, I am friends with living proof. Don't give up. You can make
it work. :-)
