Kiwibox: How long have you been a member of kiwibox?
-- A long time, I joined back at the end of October 2001... so about five and half years now.
KB: What do you like best about the site?
Claire Definitely the journals
KB: You said you enjoy volunteering. What kind of activities are you involved in?
Claire : During the school year I volunteer as a religious education teacher and a mentor. Anytime I volunteer it's usually working with kids.
KB:What kind of activities do you do with your church? How did you get involved?
Claire :This past year I taught first grade religious education, and during the yearly festival I help out in the food/snack booth and sometimes in the kids games. I got involved with the festival when I was like 12-years-old and my mom thought it would be fun to do it together. I got involved with religious education because my youth minister asked if I'd be interested in it.
KB :Can you tell me more about what it's like to be a mentor?
Claire : Mentoring is incredibly rewarding. Throughout the past school year I've worked with a sixth grade girl on language arts. I've seen the progress she's made and really made a strong connection with her. She talks to me about everything and knows I'll listen and help if I can, she even has my number if she needs to talk.
KB:What made you decide to be a mentor?
Claire :The director at the time came to my high school in search of new mentors. With a couple of my friends I decided to try it out. Fell in love with it and now have done it for three years.
