Television Moms

Our Favorite Picks

Throughout the years there have been many shows that have wonderful mother figures featured in them. Some television star mothers have influenced viewers to become good role models for their children. While other star mothers have made us laugh and make believe that their children would be perfect angels. Here are a few of my favorite television mothers that I have grown to love and admire.

7th Heaven

Annie Camden played by Catherine Hicks on the longest running television drama 7th Heaven. Annie Camden is a stay-at-home mom who is busy raising seven children and still has time to get things done around the house. She cooks everything from scratch, the house looks spotless, does laundry for nine people, and runs errands when she is alone. At dinner time she always makes a desert and when company comes over there is always tea for the guests. She can fix anything that is broken or needs to be built like a room in the attic and the garage apartment. She helps manage the household money and pay the bills. Her children seek her advice when problems arise or need someone to listen to their concerns. There are times when the children get into some kind of trouble and need to be punished for what they have done.

The show 7th Heaven has used many topics that affect everyday families. It relates to real life issues and helps families overcome problems that affect their lives. There are mothers who choose to stay at home to raise children while their husbands are the breadwinners. All mothers deal with their children's problems in different ways and try to help them overcome obstacles. Not all children always get along with their mothers and sometimes they have problems overcoming their differences. When children get into trouble for doing something wrong then their parents have to find a punishment that will help them learn from their mistakes. There are times it is difficult to relate to serious issues such as drinking, drug use, and teen pregnancy unless the person has been down the same path. In each episode that has dealt with difficult issues whether it was child abuse or gang related topics there was always a positive outcome and the person faced with the problem ends up getting help.

these choices are great too

Those were some interesting choices. I'm surprised to see "Mama's
Family" in there... I haven't seen that show in ages. By the way,
Mama would be a "widow" as a "widower" is the term for men.
it's so awesome that thelma harper was included in this
