Lies for the Liars

After making fans wait three long years until their next album The Used have finally made their comeback--not only with a new CD but with a completely new sound as well.

Following in the footsteps of bands like My Chemical Romance, Green Day and The Academy Is, The Used have changed as we once knew them. Though one can still hear their famous upbeat and rhythmic melodies, as well as Bert McCracken's remarkable vocals, there are also deeper and more destructive tunes at work. Lies for the Liars at first may come as a slight surprise to what fans are used to; but with such variety it's difficult to resist their charming melodies and mosh pit throw-downs.

The Used have gone through a lot this year. In addition to releasing Lies for the Liars, they lost a band member. Their drummer, Brendan Steineckert, left the band in the middle of recording in order to play for Rancid, much to everyone's surprise. Though this came as a major blow to the band--but they did not halt their recording process. Instead, they asked Good Charlotte's Dean Butterworth to fill in for the rest of the album. However, the new and permanent drummer of the band has been announced. Dan Whitesides, who accompanied the band at the Taste of Chaos tour, will be their new sticksman. The other bandmates have not changed; it's still Bert McCracken as lead singer, Quinn Allman as guitarist and backup vocals, Jeph Howard on bass, along with Dan Whitesides on drums.
