MK Going Solo

Will She Live Up to the Hype?

Stop the presses! Miniature mogul Mary-Kate Olsen is branching out! Set to appear in ten (out of fifteen) episodes of Showtime's edgy adult drama Weeds, the actress is gearing up to be quite a fixture during the show's third season.

Olsen will portray a profoundly Christian girl named Tara, who will develop into a love interest for Nancy Botwin's (Mary-Louise Parker) son Silas (Hunter Parrish).

This new venture marks the first time MK is appearing in a featured role without her sister Ashley. This is of course, if you discount her role in the ill-fated Factory Girl which was cut out of the final version.

Sounds interesting right? Why do I get the feeling she'll be reduced to a scene or two per episode? Not to say she isn't talented, of course. Check her out in New York Minute:

No matter what, at least it'll be interesting to see Olsen in some fictional drama for once.

I think it's great that she's trying something new. I think she
needed a break from all the movies she was acting in with her
sister.
I've seen some recent shots of her... she looks AWFUL. All she
does is smoke and drink coffee. She isn't that great of an actress
either. Hopefully Mary-Louise Parker will teach her something.
I like the Olsens! It'll be interesting to see how she does! Go
M-K!
Great for her, but who really cares?
when u said "Working Girl" did you mean "Factory Girl"?
if your talking about the Edie Sedgwick biopic.. then its "Factory
Girl"
nice articl BTW.. hopefully MK is successful!
