How to: Beat the Heat

Along with summer's candy colored bikinis, breathtaking beach days and bronzed bods comes a slightly less sought after summer staple, sweat. It's on your neck, your chest, your back and worst of all, matting up your salt-water styled mane. This year, instead of tossing your effortless waves, or for some, frizz ravaged strands into a ratty little bun, try something different to cure your hair maladies.

Chignon: This always classic style bears resemblance to that post-pool bun you rocked last summer, but takes it to the next level with a sophisticated touch.

How-To:Take hair when it is still damp and part deeply at one side. Once you've gathered the hair, twist until the pony tail begins to twist back on itself and then secure at the nape of the neck with and an elastic (we reccomend Goody Ouchless Elastics). Muss it up a bit in the front or keep smooth depending on personal tastes. The result is perfectly polished and sweat proof. Best of all, if you ever decide to take it out, hair will be smooth on top with luscious waves at the bottom.

Low Braid: More commonly seen on horseback than pool side, this classic and easy to do style will have you looking cool no matter how hot it is.

How-To: Gather your sweat soaked strands at the base of your neck and split into a center part. Start weaving the sections together, one on top of the other. Secure with an elastic and throw on your favorite sun-hat for a casual "just hanging out at my villa" look.

I really didn't understand the directions to the first one at all,
is it a really modified twist of some kind? Kind of like how I
used to (and sometimes still do) a twist: part your hair down the
middle, and twist the two parts of hair clockwise independently,
then twirl them around each other clockwise and put a ponytail
holder at the end?

This article could've used better formatting, by the way. And
better descriptions, more pictures would've been better.
but i got my hair cut in layers && it looks soooo kute!!!!!!!!!!
