TV Plastic Surgery and Weight Loss Obsession

If you were on a reality TV show, what kind of show would you want to be on? A Survivor-style program that would plunk you on a tropical island with a bunch of strangers? A dating show like The Bachelor? A practical joke show like Punk'd or Candid Camera?

Or would you let the whole world watch as you drastically change your appearance and/or attempt to lose weight? It seems like more and more reality shows are heading in this direction as our society becomes increasingly obsessed with changing our looks. Plastic surgery is more popular than ever before (nearly 11 million cosmetic procedures were performed in 2006, a 7% increase from the year before), and as the number of obese Americans rises, weight loss is becoming a common goal. It is no surprise, then, that there are several shows which follow both "common" people and D-list celebrities in their search for the perfect (or at least healthy) body.

I loved that show! I can't believe Extreme Makeover was
canceled... Why? Too many people signing up? I wouldn't mind being
on that show...
