A Sweet Deal

e.l.f. cosmetics

Whether you love shopping or only do it when you absolutely have to, there is nothing better than coming across a really sweet deal. You know the kind - it's the perfect product at an amazing price; exactly what your checkbook needs! I came across a sweet deal when I ran out of clear mascara and someone suggested checking out e.l.f. cosmetics.

In case you've never heard of e.l.f., let me fill you in on what you're missing out on. All of e.l.f.'s products, including make-up, brushes and carrying cases, are only $1.00. Since everything is only a buck, at first I was a little wary of the idea, but I went a little crazy and ordered about one of everything.

I figured I would be sandbagged with shipping charges once I hit the checkout, but their shipping is a flat rate of only $5.00 (if you're lucky and find a coupon, you could end up with free shipping!). With such a low shipping charge, I thought it would take weeks to actually receive my order, but I was wrong again. It only took three days to process and a week to ship my order by priority mail. The low shipping rates and fast turn-around time made this an even sweeter deal.

im from the philippines, & ive read a lot about this product, do u
have any ideas how i could get them? thanx
I bought one of the single pan eyesdows (they were out of the
quads to put them in) and I thought it was ok. It's good quality
for only costing $1.
I like the idea of $1 cosmetics, but they don't really have much
to choose from. I would order brushes and tools from here but I'm
not sure about actual make-up. I really wish they had nail
polish.
Holy shit. $1?!
That's awsome.
Hm, I think I'll have to do some shopping:)
I wish AVON still sold clear mascara. It works wonders for my
crazy unwieldy eyebrows.

I love AVON and all, but my main (and for most part only)
complaint is that they discontinue products by the time people get
hooked on them. That's what they did with the line of products
called Color Trend, which carried the clear mascara.

Another thing I have to commend elf on is, their shine eraser
sheets. AVON used to have something called a soothe and treat
compact (which had sheets for oil reduction) for those of us
oilies, but they discontinued it (a likely story, right?)

I didn't care for the selection of custom eye colors. I think they
should add more colors. Also, one of their sets (the green eyes
one) has a very pinky light purple and forest green together. That
might not go as good together, considering pinky shades only tend
to look best on cool-toned people, and shades of green like forest
tend to look better on warm-toned people. It's a conflict of
tones, and they might cancel each other out if blended, leaving
the person looking like they've got a fresh black eye.

Also, their pre-designed compact 2 is nice, but it might be a
safer bet for looking good on different skin tones if the blush
was a more neutral tone (or even, closer to being a neutral tone).

I do however, think it's wonderful that they've got a bunch of
predesigned kits for different types of people. I.e. they take the
guesswork out of product choice based upon skin color, etc.

On the custom lips, they have lots of choices for berries, wines,
plums, and pinks, but not a lot of choices for people who want
warm or neutral shades.

I do have to say, yes, that is awesome, to the color section
available in these eye compacts.

All of the shades in those compacts are are good, and are sure to
go well together.

Also, I was looking at what they consider to be fair, light, and
medium. you can see what I mean here:
http://www.eyeslipsface.com/popup.asp?images/tones.jpg

I don't necessarily agree with their classifications. Many times,
people with fair-skin are actually WARM-toned, like my friend
Diane. People can be in any shade class (fair, light, medium,
deep), and have any sort of skin-tone. Just because they're medium
or deep, it doesn't necessarily make them neutral, or warm. To us
AVON reps, light usually means cool-toned more so than fair does
(especially if you get a fair person of Irish decent, can we say,
warm-toned?). Maybe it's just the shades. With avon's foundation
colors, they have 3 shades in each class (i.e. class meaning fair,
light, medium, and deep). One of the 3 shades in each class is for
people who have cool undertones (blue or pink, which e.l.f didn't
mention anything about pink undertones), another shade in that
class is for those who are neutral (neither cool or warm, with
olive undertones), and another is for those warm-toned folks (with
yellow undertones). I can't count how many shades of makeup with
various brands there are that have light or fair that was too
yellow for me because I'm too cool-toned. So it's one thing to
keep in mind about e.l.f, is that you might have more trouble
matching skin tones if you don't fit their specifications.
I went buck-wild and ordered a lot of e.l.f. cosmetics, too. I
don't like the grape vanilla-flavored lip glosses nor the
mint-flavored ones. They have a metallic aftertaste that's yucky.
I do like the therapeutic conditioning lip balm. The raspberry
creme one tastes really good, like candy, but the orange creme one
tastes papery or mediciney and not like orange creme should taste.
The lipsticks taste really nice. They have a vanilla flavor and
glide on smoothly. e.l.f. is not the greatest cosmetics line, but
for a buck per product, it's a fair deal. Check it out!
I usually buy most of my make-up from Sephora. They have awesome
stuff, but it's expensive!! Wal-Mart has some stuff that work
well and are cheaper.

e.l.f. sounds kool and their make-up looks nice too! hmm..maybe
I'll try?
hmm.

i've never heard of them.

i like mac though and i don't see any products from elf that i
would want to try.

other than their brushes because well.. i spend way too much on
brushes.
this is the first time I've heard of elf. I'd ask more about their
glosses because I don't trust too many brands but it's just a
dollar so I'll find out myself lol.
I whole-heartedly LOVE elf cosmetics. Dirt cheap and it's still
amazing stuff. The Target here in my town sells a lot of the
product line. It's the first place I go when I need to replace
make up or want something new.
wow thats cheap!!
