I have dated many guys in my years, ranging from meaningless flings to serious relationships. Although spring is widely believed to be the season of love, I would have to disagree. Many of my relationships have begun in the summer and what I've learned is that most of the time it's all about mutual trust and honesty regarding what's expected.

From the ages of about 13 to 18 I would attend a Christian bible camp at church for about two weeks each summer. I always used to hook up with someone for those two weeks, assuming that it wouldn't go anywhere because we lived too far away from each other to make it work. Instead of seeing these flings as potential relationships the two of us would just relax and be ourselves with one another. It was more of an exercise in getting to know one another than it was the beginning to something more permanent.
That's what I look at dating as; a chance to get to know other people. It will help prepare you for the long run when you're married. You learn what you like in other people by dating. Knowing your preferences will help future relationships and make more time for people that are potentially serious.
