Pokemon Battle Revolution

Pokemon Battle Revolution
Nintendo (Wii)

Pokemon Battle Revolution, like the billions of Pokemon Stadium renditions in the last decade, is a hodgepodge of RPG-styled strategy - turn-based battles, attribute-boosting items - and explosive, over-the-top fighting game theatrics. The big difference this time around is that Nintendo has went all-out to make this Pokemon game heavily-aided by online battling - a series' first.

Another major upgrade from the old games in the Stadium/Battle sub-series are the game's graphics: The Wii proves itself to be quite capable of dazzling and fluid animation, with colorful and crisp environments rounding out the package nicely. Any pundit who rolls his eyes at the Wii's processing power will feel a tad embarrassed after seeing Battle Revolution; at the very least they will reconsider their opinion.

For gamers that bought DS combo of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl: If you indeed, did catch them all, prepare to swap out the 2D characters for 3D renditions, as Pokemon Battle Revolution is able to cram every last critter into the game; if you don't have either DS game no worries - you'll still have an arsenal of elemental creatures at your disposal. Once you have picked out your best stable of Pokemon you battle the computer (or an online combatant - more on that later) in an all-out brawlfest to determine who's the best Trainer around.
