Beyonce Knowles watch out! Kelly Rowland, a former member of Destiny's Child, has released her sophomore album, Ms. Kelly, which reflects both Kelly's confident and sassy side, as well as her softer and more vulnerable side. "Ms. Kelly" is no longer living in the shadow of Beyonce - she's ready to make her mark on R&B all by herself.

It has been five years since she released her debut solo album, Simply Deep, and during this time Kelly Rowland has become a more confident artist which is definitely reflected in this album. Opening up the album with "Like That" featuring Eve, Kelly sings, "The girl that they used to know done changed / Now they sayin' 'Ms.' before they mention my name." Other sassy, confident songs featured on the album include "Comeback" and "Work," which has an awesome beat and aggressive lyrics, showing her listeners that she knows what she wants.

Many songs on the album deal with a softer side of Kelly's side, regretting break-ups, missing old lovers and of-course- falling in love again. I love the song "I'm Still in Love With My Ex" because her lyrics are so honest without a trace of a harsh undertone. "And I wasn't ready when I said that I loved you / And in my heart, I know that I gotta tell you / I shouldn't have gone from a situation to the next / I'm still in love with my ex."

"This is Love" is a love ballad with a country feel to it. This song reminds me of Beyonce's "Dangerously in Love" in that Kelly sings with a lot of emotion and shows off her powerful voice. In "Love" Kelly expresses the feelings she has after a break-up, "I thank you for showing me that the world don't turn because of you love."

Kelly Rowland has always stood in the shadow, but she has truly proven with this album that she is ready to be put in the spotlight. The tracks are filled with a lot of emotion and powerful lyrics. There isn't a single song on the album that I don't like; it's an absolute must have. Make way, Beyonce!
