Yoga

Eastern Philosophy Moves Westward

In the spirit of the Roadtrip and Vacation Issue of Kiwibox we thought we would talk about a meditation and exercise method that comes to us from the Eastern World. Hatha Yoga, an off shoot of Yoga as understood by Hindus in India is practiced for exercise rather than for spiritual purposes. Derived from ancient Sanskrit texts Yoga has reemerged in recent years with incredible strength. The popularity of Yoga is no surprise considering the variety of benefits; including better circulation, increased flexibility, increased sexual satisfaction and a tighter body. Concentrating on long physical movements, meditation and breathing, yoga is intended to center those who practice, making the visible results a secondary concern to factors such as mental clarity and litheness.

The primary goal of yoga, which works through a series of physical poses or asanas, Pranayama, or breathing techniques and mental exercises, is designed to unite the body and the mind. Stretching, strengthening, and elongating the spine for proper alignment of the vertebrae all contribute to an overall sense of well being that is likely responsible for the growing popularity of the practice. See what the fuss is all about with one of the videos below.

I've been doing yoga for almost a year and it has transformed my
body a lot. I agree with a lot of this article. It has increased
my flexibility and my body has more strength, balance, and is
firmer. I did not no about the increse of sexual
satisfaction...that was totally new to me. It also helps my stress
because I used to stress a lot and I don't do that too much
anymore. This is the best workout that I've ever done and I want
to continue doing this because it helps mentally, physically, and
spiritually.
