Raise your hand if you want your ride down the waterslide to end with black mascara streaming down your face. No one? I guess I'm not the only one. When I put my make up on, I expect it to stay where I put it. In order to protect your look, it's important to choose items that clearly state waterproof. Most waterproof cosmetics are also sweatproof, which is, though we might not want to admit it - a problem during the summer time. When it's humid and you're outside, perspiration happens, but it doesn't have to ruin your make up.
So what makes it waterproof? Most waterproof cosmetics contain dimethicone copolyol. Dimethicone is what helps keep the skin smooth, even after you've applied. Waterproof make up is not ideal for every day use though asit's made to resist water and washing with a cleanser isn't going to completely remove it without major scrubbing. Most waterproof cosmetics will require a special formula when you want to remove it, but this formula can also be harsh and damage your skin. So while waterproof options an excellent solution to special events, stick to your more natural formulas, that aren't so harsh when it comes time to remove them.

I have an combo-oily complexion, that wouldn't go over so well.
