Brigitte Bardot, born on September 28, 1934, was a sex kitten of the 1950s and '60s. Actress, model, singer, nationalist, and animal rights activist, Brigitte has done it all. She has also spoken out against even more issues, such as immigration, Islam in France, miscegenation (interracial marriage), and homosexuality.
Bardot was born in Paris to wealthy parents Anne-Marie Mucel and Charles Bardot. Her parents were very religious and instilled their conservative Roman Catholic ideals into her.
Early on, Bardot's mother encouraged her daughter's interest interest in dance and music. Bardot started dancing ballet at the age of five, and at thirteen she danced with Leslie Caron, a famous ballerina, at the Conservatoire Nationale de Danse. She modeled for Elle magazine at fifteen years old, and in 1952, she appeared in her first movie, Le Trou Normand.
