Waterproof makeup is one of our greatest luxuries. If applied correctly, these products will leave you with a flawless face that won't smudge at all. Things like the weather, perspiration and water will never threaten to ruin your apperance again.

Many female athletes tend to use waterproof makeup to look their best on and off the field, while many actresses tend to use this type of makeup when acting in an emotional scene. Women can even use it on vacation for whenever they're swimming.

So, what are some of the facts behind this amazing cosmetic invention?

Most waterproof makeup has a silicon-base product called dimethicone. This is used to keep the skin soft.

However, waterproof makeup also comes with some health concerns. Since it can't be taken off with water, you have to use special solvents to remove it. These products are often harsh and can remove essential sebum from the skin. Sebum is an oily substance in the skin. If this is removed from your skin you can get many infections. Sunburns and other problems like wrinkles and aging are not uncommon. Therefore you should leave waterproof makeup for special occasions like proms or weddings.
