Think Fast & Healthy

Would you like fries with that?

Being on the "go," we don't always have the time to eat healthy. Sometimes we have to resort to pulling up to the drive-thru and asking for the *gasp* burger and fries. Not anymore my friends! Shape magazine has devised a list of not-so-bad items on the fast food menu that won't make us feel like we just drank a bucket of grease.

Burger King's motto is "Have it your way!" OK, how about a tasty chicken sandwich that isn't drowning in calories? Problem solved. Burger King's Chicken Whopper Sandwich on a small bun without mayo, saves you about 390 calories compared to the Original Whopper burger with cheese. Also, fast food chains are getting smart about giving consumers choices. That's why Shape magazine recommends ordering a side salad with your chicken sandwich instead of French fries.

The red-haired girl with pig-tails doesn't have to taunt you anymore. Now, at Wendy's you can eat a healthy meal on the go with their expanded menu at the drive-thru. Wendy's has a great way that allows you to mix and match your menu selections, one of the healthy alternatives to an old fashioned hamburger is Wendy's Mandarin Chicken Salad with a side of a baked potato. Compared to the other salads that Wendy's has, you would be saving 110 calories compared to the Homestyle Chicken Strips Salad. If you order the Mandarin Chicken Salad with low-fat honey mustard dressing, skip the crispy noodles and add in the plain baked potato for some more substance, you are looking at a total of 570 calories. Not to shabby.

If you're not a "salad" person, try these suggestions out. The Ultimate Chicken Grill Sandwich is a better alternative compared to the Homestyle Chicken Fillet and much better than an old fashioned hamburger. The Ultimate Chicken Grill is topped with hearty veggies and is served on a hard roll. Before they ask you if you want fries with that, order a side salad with fat-free dressing for a healthy substitute. If you need a quick snack to hold you over, a small Chili with some crackers is only 375 calories and it will fill you up until your next meal.

love wendys!
mike
When i got to wendys i usually get the Chilli.. Which is low fat..
Atleast that is what my aunt tells me who has been working there
for like 18 years. Also I usually get the baked potato with it..
Even though i put butter and sour cream on it.. It is still a
pretty healthy fast food meal. And it is really really good:)
Which im suprised they didnt add that into the wendys section
about the baked potato and chilli since you cant get them at
mcdonalds or bk
I was glad that the section on DQ was added at the end. I've
worked at my local DQ for over 5 years now and their ice cream is
reduced fat, but still really tasty. It's no doubt my favorite
brand of soft-serve (trying not to be biased)!
I tried the Spicy Chicken sandwich at Burger King and it was
great. It has lettuce on it, so you also get some veggies with
your meal. If I want a hamburger, I never order the combo meals,
because they're too big; I usually order a Kid's Meal, which has a
small French fry, and you can get chocolate milk if you don't want
tonic. I'd usually bring some juice to the office for lunch, and
then mix the chocolate milk with a cup of coffee for a hot mocha
treat for afternoon break. You can buy a Kid's Meal even if you're
an adult--they don't give you any hassle, and it's fewer in
calories than the larger size.
"Not to shabby."

It should be "not TOO shabby"

That bothered me LoL.
how about ppl just eat watever they want to eat or just exercise
some will power.
i like ur reccomendations. great ideas! keep up the good work :-)
Yea I'm still not going to McDonnalds :-) Good to know though
about Wendy's and Burger King though. I usually try to avoid fast
food like the plague.
