High-Waisted Pants

Not The Mom Jean Anymore!

High-waisted pants have made their way out of the 1970's vault, and they're no where near being a "mom jean."

The high-waisted pant portrays a more sophisticated, vintage look, rather than the reemergence of the leggings, that should be left in the 1980's or for girls ten years old or younger. The high-waisted pants can be worn as a wide leg and flare, but also has been reinvented into a skinny jean as well.

Fashonistas like Gwen Stefani, Fergie and Aly & AJ are among those who have been sporting the high-waisted pant. On a recent episode of the Tyra Banks Show, Banks revealed her "Top 15" list of must have trends for Fall 2007. Among those on the list were high-waisted pants placing at number six.

"High-waisted pants work without being mom jeans if they have a shorter zipper, smaller back pockets and please, no pleats!"

This summer, Sarah Jessica Parker debuted her affordable clothing line, Bitten, and among those in her line was a high-waisted jean.

On the Oprah Winfrey Show, Parker said, "Enough of the low-waisted jeans."

How and what to wear with a high-waisted pant
-A form-fitted top, tucked into the pants.
-Heels help lengthen the legs.
-A big belt flatters the waist.
-A longer fitted shirt that covers the waist works best to cover unwanted mid-areas.

Other high-waisted trends include shorts, capris and skirts.

Having to pull up your pants every time you sit down can be annoying making high-waisted pants a simple alternative.

i agree, these pants can be ugly! but the lead singer from
paramore can pull them off really good because they're skinny
jeans with a few buttons, and a t-shirt tucked in with suspenders.
very punk.
I don't like high-waisted stuff either. I am so comfortable in
lower cut stuff that I'll never be comfortable with this trend.
I'm short so high-waisted jeans don't work on me, it makes me look
like I have no upper body!
All I can say is NOOOOOOOOOOO. I HATE high waisted anything, I
never wear anything on my waist, regardless of whether it's meant
to be worn there or not. This is hideous. I hope no one falls for
this trend.
Personally, I find high-waisted, flared/wide-leg jeans (the
combination is what really kills me) to be absolutely hideous.
It's the worst trend to come around in a LONG time. Just because
it's a trend doesn't mean it necessarily looks good! You won't see
anyone wearing these anymore in 6 months.
