Getting back to her haute couture roots

After straying from her couture roots to design fashionable menswear, Farah Angsana is back with vengeance... and some sequins.

To Angsana, her Spring 2008 haute couture collection represents her journey from where she first began to what originally inspired her to become a designer. She has the ability to blend fantasy and reality together to make women beautiful and glamorous.

Ever since Angsana was a young girl, she says fashion was always on her mind. Flipping through the pages of fashion magazines, she would stop ever so often to adore designs by Valentino. She eventually began designing clothes for her mother and sister even before she could properly sketch a design. Instead, Angsana would bring her vision to the local dress maker and through detailed descriptions she would guide her to make her idea a reality.

Angsana studied fashion formally at the Central School of Fashion in London perfecting her signature haute couture and draping technique. Before long she was showcasing her designs in the London markets and in time launched her own line of cocktail evening wear forming a strong following.

The real test of Angsana's talents was when she brought her designs to the "other" fashion capital of the world, Paris. She became the first Indonesian born designer to present her collection in Paris.

It would be the people who eventually took the reigns of her company that would steer her down a different couture paved path. Her determination got the better of her and she began to look at what worked for her originally.

Angsana began sketching evening wear and couture designs for women once again. She took control back from her company and designed a line of 28 pieces and presented them at the Ritz-Paris during Paris Fashion Week.

Her haute couture gowns are feminine and elegant incorporating sexy silhouettes that exude ever present glamour. Angsana's Spring 2008 collection is utterly breathtaking as she sets out to create a collection dedicated to a woman's spirit. Her meticulous attention to detail is what makes her collection absolutely exquisite.

Angsana made her United States debut during New York Fashion Week at the Metropolitan Pavilion. She started out her collection with a series of white chiffon drape gowns each slightly different from the next. She used sequin accents on puff sleeves as well as across the backs of the gowns. The color scheme was perfect for a Spring collection, complete with pastel blues, whites and salmons.

One of the more memorable gowns was in an olive green with a sequin Egyptian neckline, accessorized with a gold rope belt and hanging tassels. She also designed really cute bubble dresses lined with black tulle and iridescent fabric that will make you wish you had some place fancy to go.

Angsana's Spring 2008 collection brings her back to her roots of haute couture where she belongs. Her designs have the ability to make any woman feel feminine, timeless and glamorous. Her New York Fashion Week debut will only be the beginning.
