Chamillionaire: Ultimate Victory

Enter the Chamillionaire Ultimate Victory Contest to win autographs, albums and more!
He normally gets "beef" for sounding "preachy," but Grammy Award winner Chamillionaire just tells it like it is on his latest album Ultimate Victory.

Coming off the enormous success of his single "Ridin'" in 2005 Ultimate Victory stands face to face with his own worst enemy...his past success. Chamillionaire takes the reigns of the album into his own hands as executive producer with some help from J.R. Rotem.

The album in a nutshell shows two sides of Chamillionaire, his "street" side and his "sensitive" side. It is unlikely that Ultimate Victory will live up to the success of his past album, but Chamillionaire proves that he will not settle, he is still chasing the dream and can still make a great hip hop album. The album however is not perfect. The tracks are somewhat repetitive and some of the cameos are straight up laughable. Despite the flaws (lets face it no one is perfect, not even you Kanye) the album is a winner.

Cham opens Ultimate Victory with "The Morning News" rapping about relevant topics other than pimps and ho's...but don't worry he gets to that. The song is great throughout, until you get to the chorus. The repetitive "news" is just plain annoying.

The first single released off of Ultimate Victory is "Hip Hop Police" and is probably one of the best tracks on the album. Produced by Cham and J.R. Rotem it starts out like 50 Cent's "In Da Club" with the repetitive "go." The chorus is extremely catchy and has a great beat throughout (it even has some ghetto hand-clap's) add in a cameo by Slick Rick and you have got yourself a hit.

"Industry Groupie" stands to become the album's second single, is another gem co-produced by Rotem comes ready with a warning at the beginning of the song where Cham apologizes if he offends anyone (is rap music turning over a new leaf?). It's the old rap fairytale, a rapper falls in love with a stripper/groupie she takes all his money and we are left with this song. Cham is obviously a little...OK a lot pissed off in this song. A groupie did him wrong y'all. And if you missed your spelling lesson this week, have no fear because Cham pulls a Fergie and starts out the song spelling G-R-O-U-P-I-E... catchy, but unnecessary.

"Pimp Mode" it's kind of "Industry Groupie's" sequel, only this time Cham is putting the bitch in her place and is no longer sad about his lost love. Bun B makes an appearance on this song and adds to the flavor.

"Rock Star" isn't like Shop Boyz "Party like a Rock Star" not even close. And since when did it become popular to rap about partying like a rock star? Not a bad song, that is until Lil' Wayne decided to grace the track with his presence. His performance is laughable and absolutely the worst feature on the album. Dude, if you are going to rap at least open your mouth.

On "The Evening News" (the second installment to "The Morning News") Cham gets political. Unlike Twista who became a rapper/journalist, Chamillionaire decided to use his journalistic beliefs in his raps. He brings us the news from his P.O.V and calls out Don Imus, Anna Nicole and even brings up Virginia Tech and Hurricane Katrina.

The last track on the album is the title track, "Ultimate Victory" and one of the best songs on the album. Cham takes the time out to thank everyone who has EVER inspired him. The song has a great beat and it was a great way to end the album, he seriously saved the best for last.
