Chubby cherubs, fluffy clouds, a blindingly bright light: everyone has their their own vision of the afterlife. But what if you take destiny into your own hands and arrive there way ahead of schedule? Director/screenwriter Goran Dukic's new film, Wristcutters, shows us what happens in the afterlife after you commit suicide. And in Joe Zia's case, it's a far crummier version of what his life was like before.

In short, average Joe Zia (Patrick Fuget) becomes depressed after his girlfriend dumps him and moves out. He then commits suicide, which lands him in a portion of the afterlife just for people who committed suicide. After learning that the after life sucks even more than his life and that his ex committed suicide after he died, he decides to go on an adventure to find her with Eugene(Shea Whigham), a Russian-American guy he met in a bar. On their travels they pick up the attractive hitchhiker Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon), who's trying to find the PIC (People In Charge) because she thinks that she is there on accident and wants to go home.
